Can some one give me just a succinct synopsis of how these 2 compare/contrast, all the searching I've done has just yielded a mess of info that I don't know whether to trust.

    "The grips different"
    "The trigger's different"
    "Ones softer, One's snappier"

    HELP!

I have shot the 21sf and own the gen4 G21.

The gen 4 feels better and smaller than the sf model.

Both shoot equally as good. Although the gen4 has a dual recoil assembly.

One thing I noticed at the fun show yesterday, with the gen 4's wider mag release, I can actually reach the release without turning the gun in my hand.

I couldn't see there being any difference in how they preform. RTF is always the better choice though...

Outside of what you have already been told (similar grip, larger mag release and dual RSA on Gen4) the Gen4 pistols come with three mags. I can't tell a LOT of difference between the Gen4 and my old Gen3 as far as how they shoot...but it is enough for me to favor the Gen4. YMMV.

I have owned both, and for me, the Gen 4 G21 shoots more accurately, and with less recoil. Actually, the G21SF was way less accurate for me, so I no longer have it. I agree with some of the others, that the Gen 4 grip feels superior also.

I have 2 gen 3 regular 21's, a SF 21 and a gen 4 21. Of all of them, the gen 4 is my favorite by far. The grip does seem a tad bit smaller. The larger mag release is a ton of help in tactical reloading, but the biggest difference is the new recoil spring. It takes A TON of the recoil out of it. I loved it so much, I personally bought a gen 4 to replace my duty gen 3. If in doubt, definitely go with the gen 4.
