Picked up a 2005 issue on ebay due to the GAP articles & noticed all the cover guns had the old style finish,Did they ever make them that way or are they just prototypes for the mag?
All the ones I've seen have the semi gloss slides.
Just curious & bored on a Friday night.

They simply look over digitized, and over airbrushed to me. Look at how dark the numbers and letters are. Obviously touched up.

Or they could simply be well worn. My G38 is starting to look like the old style Glocks from holster wear, at the front of the slide. I didn't think it happened with the new style finish, but my G38 has been getting beat up the most, and it is showing up just like the older Glocks. It just takes a lot longer, and is more easily covered up with a light coat of lubricant.

I guess it could be the photo's, have to take a closer look.
Odd they would have the same exact wear, plus you would think Glock would use new pistols for a cover picture, who knows?

Just for my information, are you using a leather or kydex holster?
Wondered whats easier on the finish?

Clean leather is more abrasive than clean kydex.

I keep my G38 in a G-Code holster. I guess they are Kydex. The funny thing is, there is no wear down the sides of the slide. It is only at the very front edges of the muzzle. It's still black, but has lost some of that glittery luster. Starting to look like the old phosphate greyish dull finish.
