I once put a red dot on a 10/22 but that didn’t last long. The dot was too big for hunting squirrels.
If you can’t afford a quality scope I always recommend saving until you can.
That way you won’t have an extra scope lying around after you find a way/reason to replace the cheap one.
I give the same advice on guns, holsters, Jeeps, etc.
