So, I am finishing up my 10//22 build.
Standard carbine in choate folding stock.
This carbine has been loved up by Connecticut precision chambering.
Stupidly accurate, 100% reliable.
Now I need glass on a budget... At least for a few more months.
What do you recommend?
Thinking I would like a straight 4, 2X7, OR 3x9 at the biggest.
Would like to be in the $200.00 range for now..

I have a 10/22 from the late 70's. It is an amazing platform, amazingly accurate and absolutely dependable. The only mod has been the BX trigger and that happened at Christmas of THIS year. I love this weapon.

It has killed many squirrels and rabbits but now just clangs targets and punches holes in paper.....oh yes....and makes me SMILE.

Mine has a 1" 4X scope that I can use with both eyes open, but if I had it to do all over again I would mount a RD and be done with it. Out to 100yds the RD is all you need. I have a Bushnell TRS25 on my AR and have never looked back. Quality piece and very affordable.

I am looking hard at the VX2 Leupold 2X7...

I bought one last year to put on a 7x57 Ruger #1. Great scope for the price and you can't beat resale value of Leupold. I've got eight 10/22s with an assortment of sights; 4x Weaver, 4x18 Weaver, CMore, MatchDot, TacSol FO irons, Ruger irons, and 4x12 Vortex

I once put a red dot on a 10/22 but that didn’t last long. The dot was too big for hunting squirrels.
If you can’t afford a quality scope I always recommend saving until you can.
That way you won’t have an extra scope lying around after you find a way/reason to replace the cheap one.
I give the same advice on guns, holsters, Jeeps, etc.

I agree.. I have high end glass and triggers on all my rifles.
Also the red dot won’t work for me because I have to make head shots on beavers with it..
I have decided on the Leupold Vx2 2X7.

If you have a Cabela's nearby I know they carry Vortex in stock. Mine is actually ususally within a few bucks of Amazon's prices as well.

man ive got a 40 dollar Barska that ive had on a 10/22 for quite awhile and its been beat around , banged up , rained on and frozen and it holds zero and is as clear as the day it was new . its amazing how good some low buck optics are nowadays . the bushnell TRS25 red dot is another example . cheap and as good as much more expensive red dots

If you are getting a scope for a rimfire, get one either made for rimfire rounds or one with an objective adjustable for parallax. Most scope manufacturers used to adjust the parallax of your scope to whatever range you wanted just by sending it in.

You got a 200.00 budget so get a Leupold. The 2-7 is a good range for a .22. I have a 4-12 on my CZ but it was more like 400.00. Thought was to shoot Sil. with it. Mine are 2-7 VX-1 and a VX-2 on the 4-12.

A VX-II would be a good choice, Primary Arms is also a pretty good deal for your money. 2-7x would be plenty for what you need, or at least it would be for me.
