I left there in Nov of 89. Last week I went back.

It's changed a bit, and the main gate at Geiger isn't even there anymore, but I still knew my way around.

And the soggy log is still there!!!

"The Quads" on Camp Geiger. Where 1/8 was until we went to the Med in 88. Upon returning, we actually got to live on Lejeune.

I have a 'special' fondness of Lejeune and that area. I grew up there as my dad retired from there, then, as a reservist, I did a lot of my duty there as well. That 'new' bypass really messes with my head.

I stayed in the building on the right for MCT exactly 2 years ago! Funny stuff!

The one on the right was mine as well. Charlie Co., Wpns Plt stayed on the 2nd deck.
Ahh...memories. I retired from here in '96 but haven't been back. What did you go back for? Reunion, just in the area ?

My brother, sisters, and our families spent a week at the Outer Banks. My brother is also a Marine, so we decided to take a road trip. He was there for MCT, but never stationed there.

I'd also like to go back to The Island if I'm ever close.
I am headed to MCRD San Diego on Friday to watch the graduation it is going to be the first day of my 2 week vacation in California.

Enjoy your trip. I was there in 2001 for my son's graduation. :usmc:Unfortunately, I haven't been back since. :crying:

Damn man i got out in August of '07 and that was my home between deployments. I miss all the good times i had with the best friends i had there. I'd love to go back for a visit some day. It seems like i just got out last summer.
Good ole 8th Marines... Im with 3/8 Lima, just got back from Afghanistan! Were on post deployment leave right now.
Haven't been to Lejeune since I got out in 91. Got to go back to P.I. in 2003 while enroute to pick up a prisoner. My partner (non-military) about S%$& himself at the main gate. It's definitely differant on the outside looking in.

Does the Corps give you guys 3 days worth of 'don't beat your wife' briefings post deployment like the Army does?
