Interesting way to "relate" to students.

I remember teachers like that. My daughter was assigned to one of them in sixth grade and when I went to the school to inform them that they needed to put her into a different class they told me that parents aren't allowed to pick which teacher their children get. I told them that if that the case she wouldn't be attending this year. The principal overheard that and raced out of her office and asked me what my problem with this teacher was. When I told her I had him in fifth grade she turned beet red and told the other lady to move her into another class and walked back to her office without even looking at me again.

As a former teacher I would say this is not the way to motivate a student nor build a good parent/teacher relationship. More info would be helpful, but I would not vote for this teacher to be teacher of the year at this time.

the kids say "looser" in a fun way all the time. the kids actually hipped the teacher to it. the kids like it. that parent doesnt. there is a reason why the other parents are defending the teacher

im not saying its right, i'm saying its out of fun

I do not think so...at least not around here. the term "Loser" has always been in negative context

I can see it being out of fun if it is shared verbally between the student and teacher.

But docking a paper %20 and writing for being a loser, not so much a joke.

Hell, my kid's calling his friend a retard as I type.

I wouldn't accept such name calling from his teacher, though.

The teacher's job isn't to "relate" to the kids. His job is to teach them and grade their progress without insulting them.

    And it's "Loser", not "Looser".

Of course, you'd march right up there and commit felony assault over some name calling. You're such a strapping man, I'm impressed.

I guess it's also fun to deduct 20% of her grade, not for making a mistake, but because the teacher thinks she's a loser. Oh yeah, he'll have fun fun fun until the state takes his teaching credential away...
