Is there a 2 meter mobile out there without a fan just a heat sink. Have almost decided the dual bands are not worth the money, anyone have any different thoughts? Thanks

Get a dual bander. After you get tired of 2 meter your going to want to hang out on another band. Probably 440 mhz thats where the fun starts. Why dont you want a fan? Too loud?

The now discontinued Yaesu FT-1500 (2M only) has no fan and is ALL heatsink.

You might still be able to find some new.

You should check out the ADI AR-147 It has a heatsink instead of fans. You might want to read the reviews on eham though. I only use mine for an aprs digipeater and a packet station. I have not had any problems with it but there are a couple of medium reviews on eham about the radio.

I love my 1500, a solid single-band mobile, no fan, all heat sink. I only use it on low power, as an extended rag chew gets it kinda hot. Very dependable, and the price was right. I've found them as low as $95 locally.

Probably the same reason I don't like a fan, noise and something to go wrong, the 1500 is good if you can find one, and the new Kenwood 271A looks really good, probably my next purchase if one of the 1500's fail.

Sorry for the late reply, the no fan is mainly for the noise. The last two radios I had both had fans and the noise got to be a pain. Just person preference really.
If I could find a dual band with no fan that would be even better, but I am not sure there is one out there.
