I normally carry a Glock 19 with 19 compact mag installed.
I usually also carry a spare Glock 17 magazine in a magazine pouch.
On a number of them I have a Clock +2 mag extension.
Yesterday I accidentally dropped the magazine on my hardwood floor at home and the +2 extension broke and the magazine parts and ammunition w everywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, have you quit using the +2 extension.?
Looks like the “lips” broke off the +2 Extension???

That looks like an older design +2 extension. I carry a newer +2 and haven‘t had that problem. I also use a 11 coil magazine spring to ensure reliability, per Glocks recommendation.

Yikes. My faith in that system would be shattered. I don't have any personal experience with the extensions but I would be nervous about their durability if that happened to me. What if it was your carry piece and in a struggle your firearm hit the ground or a wall or table just before you needed it most? How old are they? Sometimes plastic degrades over time, especially if left in sunlight.

I've knocked a first gen +2 off my Glock 17 years ago. It got smacked by a come along handle while carrying it in a tanker holster. I never bought another +2 again.

I wonder how much the lip on the 19X protects the +2 mags?

This is a 17 mag being carried as spare so NO protection now OR when installed!

Yes that is possible, and you proved it. One good reason not to use extensions.
There is nothing that is 100% in life.

I don't use OE +2's, but also don't use plastic basepads in general. Metal pads work much better for my applications.

Man, that thing was built in the 80's, get a new extension and carry on! Problem solved.

I dropped the newer style +2 and I have lost the top round. Never had one come apart though.

I always thought it was strange that a Glock 18, 33 round mag is a 31 round mag with a +2 base pad.

I mean why not just make it a 33 rounder or call 31 good enough.

I have one loaded on the shelf next to my G19 with a standard 15 round mag.

Yes I’ve had this happen. I went back to all flat base pads. Not worth the risk.

The original Plus 2's didn't have a pin thru the floor plate. They come apart quite easily.

As stated, newer ones address this shortcoming. I prefer flush OEM for carry and Tyrant Designs or SLR extensions for HD. Love the SLR for G20.

For me, the 24 round mag has taken the place of the +2 17 round mags and the 33 round mags.

Play toy - get rid of it.
Makes your high reliability tool into a low reliability tool.

That's one main reason Glock stock mags are difficult to take apart.
And a good reason not to shave the barbs at the bottom (or wear them out with repeated removals) to make them easier to take apart.
