So I didn't realize it until I actually bought one, but the 33round Glock mags are actually 31 round mags with a +2 extension. The 33 rounder for me is mostly for kicks and giggles, and I doubt I would ever use it in an SD role, but adding 2 rounds to my G19 actually would be useful. Can I just swap out the baseplates? Effectively making my G18 mag a 31 rounder and one of my G19 mags a 17 rounder? Or is there something different about them? Or different springs needed or something?

You may swap the bases with inserts.

Just remember, as with any change in a self-defense gun, test out the final result before you trust your life with it. I added a +2 magazine base plate and insert on a GLOCK 27 magazine and had some problems with the result; I still need to go to the range to do more testing to figure out how to fix it. Until then I run with a stock magazine. However, I added the +2 on my 22-round magazine in the meantime.

I used one with a Glock 23 magazine and never had a problem. E en though I never had a problem I knew that the 19/23 springs are shorter than 17/22 mags springs. They are so short they are used in 26/27 magazines. Just so you'll know.
