I've been lurking here for a few months researching CCW's. You have a very lively and informative group here; I hope I can contribute something of value.

I am a retired USAF Security Policeman and former volunteer Bush Officer in Alaska (The programs real name was/is Village Public Safety Officer, we all hated that name..) is with lots of experience with firearms but very little experience with small auto's for CC. (Years and years ago I used to CC an old Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special that I customized by bobbing the hammer and reducing the double action pull from 500lbs to a more manageable 12lbs!)

After narrowing the caliber I wanted to .45 ACP (for all the obvious reasons) I started researching double stack pistols. I can hide almost anything because I wear very comfortable, loosing fitting clothes as a photographer (and I've lost weight too. I'm 6'5" and have dropped down from 370 to 330 and still falling..)

I went around to all the gun stores in Las Vegas and shot a few .45s and held a dozen and almost bought a Para-Ordnance NiteHog but I held out and checked out the Glock 30’s reputation. (only The Gun Store had one, everyone else was out)

As you all know, few double stack .45 pistols are so well liked (Glock 21 comes to mind) and none are as reliable and small!

So I bought it for the CC class and in the past month I've put nearly 700 rounds through it without a hiccup! (By the way, it’s a three shot, one-hole-shooter at 10 yards…)

    I love this gun!

Thanks for all your help everyone!

    Jim

Thank you everone for all the kind words. Glock Talkers are a great group!

I had a photo job tonight at a major local hotel. Normally I would not carry there, but I haven't installed a lock box in my truck yet and I parked using valet. I Can't leave my G30 for the parking attendants to play with! So I carried using my own custom made pocked holster. (it's what I keep the gun holstered in while I'm in my truck)

I made it a while ago, and it works really well, it's just that the G30 is little to big for practical front pocket carry. (When I get my Kahr MK9 in a two weeks, I'll modify it for that pistol)

But I carried the G30 all night. I talked to at least 50 people and no one noticed. ( Even talked to a guy from OKC about CCW laws in Nevada. I did not reveal anything, and if was carring, it was well hidden...)

When I carried years ago, it was a 2" 44 special, (customized Stainless Charter Arms Bulldog) the G30 is a little bigger!

I wish my crossbreed IWB holster would get here!

As you can see from the first attempt, the trigger wasn't covered 100%

Second version was on the money.
