what are your opions about a 1st generation clock 17 and a 2nd or 3rd generation?
1st gen models in good shape are starting to gain collector's value.
Gen 1 & 2's are worth buying when you find one. Gen 3's I am not a fan of the grip size and are plentiful.
I have a 1st, 3 2nds, 2 3rds and a 4th gen. I think they are all fine.
My first Glock is a Gen1 G17. Sitting about 10' away serving it's duty as a HD weapon. Love the Gen1 G17, but my favorites are my 2Gen Glocks. I do have 1 Gen3 G17 that I use for HD and 3 gun fun. See the avitar for my G17's.
Yep, the Gen-1's are becoming collectors items. I still dust mine off and shoot it once in a while just to let it know it's not forgotten.
I also have the Gen-2,3 and 4 as well.
I bought a 1st gen G17, serial prefix AT, meaning it is from June '86. It's two years older than I am and in better shape, it can run all day!
My gen 3 g27 is my EDC though and gets shot more.
My AW prefix G17 is my first Glock. A well used and broken gun when I aquired it. The pistol did need a bit of work to get it up to snuff. Recoil spring was spent..guide rod broken..replaced those two parts with a new Glock spring/guide-rod setup.
The early G17 pistols sometimes had issues locking the slide back caused by a tiny stop-notch in the slide...I enlarged the stop-notch a bit and fixed that.
