I have a chance to pick up a first gen 17 for $225. He used to be a sherriff's deputy and really has no need for it anymore. He says it has only 600 rounds through it. What do you guys think? Good deal? I was thinking about buying it and trading it in on a 26 just because I dont want the full size frame.

How can you be OBX glock if you live in VA?

I would be curious as to how much holster wear it has.

Anybody clue me in on the major diffrence between a first and sec gen?

$225 for a G17 with only 600 rounds through it? I'd jump on that in a heartbeat!! If you don't want it point him my way!!

Even with a fair bit of holster wear you are only talking about looks. The steel is still good, the tannifer (I can't spell) process isn't rubbed off as it gets into the metal.

As I understand the main/only differances between a Gen-1 and a Gen-3 G17 is a) there is one fewer pins in the Gen-1 [also in the Gen-2] and 2) no molded finger grips in the Gen-1

The first item was changed because the G17 ended up being the only version that didn't have the extra pin so for consistancy they changed the design.

After hearing that, 225 is a good price. And I would hold onto the 17, unless you are looking for a carry gun. Of course I flip flop between a G-22 and a G-19.
