I went to GT distributors in Austin to compare the 17.5 and the 19x. I was dead set on a 19x but wanted to compare the two just incase...... The 19X is a beautiful gun.

    19X pros vs 17.5:
    -looks sexy AF<- important :dancing:

    17.7 pros vs 19X:
-I was able to get the basic plastic sight model and reuse my Trijicon HDs (GTs slapped them on for free)
    -before tax was 133 less
    -slightly longer barrel

They are both great guns. I plan on using the gun as a bedside gun and range toy. I also have a surefire x300 on there so the extra barrel length was not a hinderance in any way. Put 150 ads through the pistol yesterday and am very happy with my purchase. I "upgraded " from a gen 4 19 which was great, but since i never CC it, i opted for a larger grip.

Only mods I did were installing Glock marine striker spring cups and the glock factory extended mag release.

Why did you put the marine cups on?

Congrats, great choice, in my thinking if I'm having the 17 long grip, I like the longer barrel of the 17 too.

I understand Glock claims much better accuracy with the barrels in the new Gen 5 17. That would interest me.

Hard to beat a Glock 17.

(Though I do like my 19X more!)

    Congrats on the 17!

I’ve been running 17’s (and on/off 34’s) in IPSC, USPSA, Steel and 3-gun for 24-1/2 years.

But based on my performance over the past several weeks with the 19X, it will be in my holster for all gun games starting next spring.

Yep. Glock won't flat out say the exacts themselves, likely for marketing/customer service reasons, but independent testing is clearly showing that the barrel is capable of impressive accuracy (with the right ammunition, and other testing conditions of course) - a definite improvement over previous generations. The 19X uses the Gen 5 GMB too, FYI.

You bought the gun without shooting it first?
    Did you shoot the 19X?
    Should try...

Just a nerdy thing I like to do. i think the 19X comes standard. I figure why not?

I did not, But I am happy with the 17 for now. I fully anticipate a 19X one day though......

I bought a 17.5 back in June as my first hand gun. Then yesterday I had the opportunity to buy another handgun and was trying to choose between the 19x and the 19.5, ended up with the 19.5 The cost difference, 10 round mag state limit and the fact I already have a 17.5 swayed me to choose the 19.5

FWIW I find the 19X trigger smoother than the standard Gen 5s (multiple examples tested) and the only difference as far as I can tell is the 19X has the marine cups.

I had the same hard decision to make at Academy and went with the 19X.

    Very nice!

I used to have like 5 X300 Ultra’s (and I carried one on duty for several years) but then I found the TLR-1HL and I have been carrying it on duty for several years now and I love it a lot more. You should check it out if you get a chance.

I have both. You cannot go wrong with either choice. I like the 19x a little better.
