I finally got my wedding and honeymoon over with now i can spend money on me again, ill have enough to put towards a 1911 in about a month, Id have to say im most interested in either a colt or kimber, looking for a full size 45 acp obviously, just wonder how a colt government series would go against kimber, i dont know all the kimber models yet really, and also what goverment series would be the best of them 70, 80, or 1991, any opinions are welcome,

    thanks

The wife just got a TLE/RII and it is awesome, don't let the naysayers tell you they suck. The Colt Rail gun in SS is about as cool as a production gun can be.

Def look at Springers like the Loaded or RO, maybe a Ruger SR as well.

    Wrong forum.

Post in the 1911 section or at least General Firearms.

Uh, this is General Glocking, actually.

Its one subforum of GT. Most of the forum has nothing to do with Glocks.

They are gorgeous. Heed the advice above and post your question in the 1911 section. You'll receive many replies from knowledgeable members regarding your future 1911. Good luck.

Why do so many on here feel the need to be @$$holes? The guy had a legit question and instead of trying to help a fellow gun enthusiast, you feel the need for adolecent bull$#!t. Cut him a break and answer the question or keep your mouth shut. I can't stand when a bunch of self proclaimed "cool guys" jump on someone for what was an honest mistake.

To answer your question OP, I have 2 Colt 1911's and 2 Kimber 1911's, all have served me well. I'm sure you won't regret whatever choice you make. Besides, you can always buy the other down the road. That's the problem with this addiction, there is always another gun to buy.

I don't think anyone was trying to be an a-hole. I think they meant to say it would be a better idea to post in the 1911 forum where people who are knowledgeable on 1911s can answer the questions accordingly. People in general glocking may not know much about 1911s.

I second that! Les Baers are very nice. They include a little test fire target (3" group at 50yds IIRC), which is guaranteed. Or, if you have the money, nobody compares to the quality, fit, and finish of an Ed Brown. I own several 1911's, and a Kimber will never be one. Every one Ive manhandled just feels like crap (MY opinion).
