I know, another 19x post, just what eveyone wanted to read! Here's my comparison. I have been competitively shooting, hunting, etc for about 50 years, yes all you youngsters, 50 years. I Have bought, shot, traded, gifted, or sold more guns than I care to remember! My first love is Colt 1911 Government pistols because of my involvement in Navy pistol competition a long time ago. My second love is Colt 1911 Combat Commanders. Think about it....Combat Commander is standard capacity frame and 4 1/4 inch barrel versus 5 inch. 19x is standard capacity frame and 4 inch barrel. There ya go......the 19X is the new classic!

I don’t know if I’d go THAT far. Time will tell.

My first pistol was a 1991 Colt Combat Commander. My prized pistol is a Gold Cup National Match. Bought my first Glock in 2015, exactly 3 years ago today (G23).

You certainly seem to have a high opinion of it.

    That’s cool

My opinion is also quite high for this new pistol. I have a G19X and have shot it in a variety of situations. Every bit as good as my G17. Some rag about it being Coyote. I like it, specially when you fire about six boxes of ammo through it and it gets soot all over the muzzle end. Looks cool.
Shoots well. Proud to have it.

Got a FDE M81 coming too. I'm really getting in to this GLOCK stuff.

I really like the way the G19x feels and balances in my hand but the Coyote Turd Yellow color is the major deal-breaker for me.

If Glock ever makes the same exact gun, with no finger grooves and no dumbass mag cut-out either, and in the NORMAL black color, that will be my next gun.

Close as I have gotten is looking at one at the gun store, but I have to say I liked the feel of holding my 17 and pointing my 19. I would be more encouraged to buy one if it came in the standard black.

You are missing out my man. I thought the same thing....then I shot it. Hell, whenever I talk about it near every gun person who I’ve run into, they think its awesome. That said something to me.

Why would it feel and balance ANY different than a normal G19 with a G17 magazine (or a G17 magazine+2 extender)???

There is a humanly-imperceptible difference in weight, weight distribution, and balance between those two pistol configurations.

New and just out of the box, the only notable G19X "enhancements" are OEM night sights and 47021 ejector, plus the indispensable maritime spring cups and the lanyard loop.

There are more "feelings" and magic than science and hard-nosed analysis when it comes to explaining the popularity of the G19X among the 9mm crowd.

Pretty easy to disagree that the balance in the slide is different.

As to grip, I'd agree except that if the 19 + extension is Gen 3/4 then the finger grooves dont fit my hand. If it is gen 5/2 the cutout is stupid and annoys me.

If the Gen 5 19 had no cutout I probably would have seriously considered it instead of the 19x.

    Just my opinion anyway.

OP, I prefer the balance and feel of commander length 1911s over the full government size, especially for carry. Bobbed if possible.

So I agree, I like the 19x for many of the same reasons.

Or a CCO, a Commander slide on an Officer frame.
