So I'm watching Gunsmoke. A man and son come in wanting a custom competition 1873. During negotiations the price for a new competition 1873 is $500-$2000.

For $18,000, they will get a cnc stainless steel receiver, a custom action KIT.
A short stock and special engraving.
I have no doubt it will be a beautiful, well shooting rifle.

Now they are selling an M&P .45 with a trigger job and custom paint for $1200.

Are guns that expensive in Colorado?

I watched the same show. More difficult to believe was the guy from Florida who bought a Mossberg rifle and a S&W Governor for $8,000. The rifle had a Leupold scope and the shop had done trigger jobs on them, and added some decorative scrollwork. But 8 grand?

I don't know if, I were the owner, I would tell the world how much I (over?) charge.

But luckily he has plenty of business and I'm not the owner.

    Update
It was $1500 for the m&p.

Dad was upset they only made $100. I can't imagine that. I stepped out and didn't see the cost of paint. But $100 profit??????

I mean for the pistol, trigger jib and paint. Kind if pricey to me but I'm cheap.

They're amazingly over priced, but I'd bet alot of the show is a hoax.

It's all BS, guns are not expensive in CO, that shop is a joke and he is generally considered a price-gouging pompous a-hole.

I thought it was cool when it first came out, but that show makes me want to puke and punch him in the face. That show makes gun shop owners look like thieves and gun buyers look like fools.

ETA: in his defense: point out a TV show that does not. Sons of Guns is a friggin joke too, I'd like to bludgeon Will with Stephanie's teefs.

The only thing real about reality TV shows is that they are all fake.

Like the breasts on the show.......everything is fake! And people hammer on Sons of Guns. At least their dramatic story lines are kinda believable.
