Would like to hear from any 17L shooters as to which sight they prefer to use in GSSF Comp class.
Come on, buy a scope and mount, make a racer out of it!
Is a racer legal in competition class?
They are legal for all GSSF, USPSA and IDPA divisions.
I prefer the Bomars but I never bothered to put a set on my 17Ls. I only used my L for Competition for a couple of matches and then moved it to the fast lane. I used my 17 with the Bomars and a thinned front blade. I don't think you'll go wrong with either brand but the Bomars are adjustable, you'll like that.
Check out the Dawson sights. They cost more than the Bomars but they do not hang out over the end of the gun.
Reference Fireglock's mention of scope and mount. Are scopes and mounts legal in GSSF competion class?
No. CGR was refering to the 17L.
I know what CGR was refering to. I meant your comment here. Guy asked for an open sight preference and the above is your comment. I asked if mount/scopes were legal in GSSF competition class. No one has answered yet
Excuse me, but I did answer you. DID YOU READ THE "NO" IN MY LAST POST, obviously not. Since you're not myglockisa23 I wouldn't worry about if I irritated him or not if I were you. He knows how to get in touch with me if he has a problem.
CGR Heinies and bomars legal for everything.
Optics are legal in GSSF Unlimited, not legal for any other GSSF class.
17L legal for GSSF comp and Unlimited only.
Fireglock said what he did cause he knows me and knew I'd appreciate him saying that.....and he's right, that's what I should do with the 17L...but I still have a ways to go before I can shoot with the big boys....one thing I have learned here on Glocktalk is not to take words the wrong way....Shooters like Fireglock, Clem, Danny R, Don at PC and many others have given me advice that not only I benefit from but the the other readers do too...and we still try to have fun while exchanging info......and when you need sights...Custom Glock Racing gives great service...
I didn't associate "No" with the original question and-YES-I MISSED IT. Thanks. I believe CGR answered my question.
Thanks. I didn't take anything the wrong way. He kidded you in an open forum about using scopes rather than open sights. You and he knew what he meant. I didn't know he was kidding and asked if scopes were allowed in the competition class that you asked about. He answered "No" and I missed the answer and asked again. Now, thanks to CGR, I understand. Thanks again.
GSSF allows any traditional "Notch & Post" sights in all stock categories, provided that they do not require slide modification, cutting or drilling. Adjustable Bo-Mars are permitted, but not the "melted on" Bo-mars.
Express Sights, Ghost ring sights, fiber optic sights, lasers, and dot/hologram sights are only permitted in Unlimited category.
I use standard Heinie's on my G19 GSSF pistol and race-cut Bo-Mars on my stock G17 and G17L. If your GSSF pistol is also your carry pistol, then I suggest race-cut Heinie sights.
Most of the GSSF Masters use Bo-mars on their Master Stock pistols.
Thanks Danny. Good info. I have been using the stock sights and see folks using adjustable aftermarket sights that hang out over the back that increase the sight radius 1/2 to 3/4 inches. That should help accuracy and hang up on your shirt.
My G17 arrived yesterday with the race cut Heinies with N/S...The sights look great! This is a total of 7 days from the day I mailed my slide to CGR. Thanks Matt.
Glad to hear you like them. Let us know how your shooting changes.
Soon as I break the 100 barrier, I will....
