Evening everybody, 1st gen 17. Finally got Glock to send me the upgrade parts for this, they were very reluctant to do so. Got them installed then, ck'd the function, all ok. Should I have changed the recoil spring? It's got the plastic guide with the three tits on it and it pulls back rather easily.

Upgrade the parts in every early gun. There is no reason not to.

Hello, just got the recoil spring, installed it. Wow, makes a lot of noise when the slide is pulled. Do I just need to break it in, lube it???

If it’s a factory RS on a plastic guide rod you never need to lube it
If it is a flat wound RS on a stainless guide rod, lube is ok
If it is a Wolff round wound spring on a stainless guide rod....... Get used to it

You can lube it if you like however it is not required
