Hi
SGammo has for sale .40 Federal 155grain Hi Shok in their classic line. Is this the same as the HST? The Hi Shok Product code is 40SWB. Does anyone have any expierence with this ammo.

Nope...the "Hi-Shok" is Federal's first generation jhp series. The new HST is an improvement on that. Some folks believe that "HST" stands for "Hi-Shok Two". We used the 155-grain Hi-Shok as duty ammo here for a time. It did the job well enough on people without causing any problems. Buy it and enjoy.

we are issued the Ranget T-series 165 grain which is also a good round. Thanks for your input, what do you issue now?

The HST was to replace the Hi-Shok. After Ranger T hit the market Federal felt the bite and removed the HST from the Classic line.

If you find the HST in the Classic box do not use it for anything other than range ammo.

Hi
Thnaks I have spoken to you before about ammo. Do you personally consider the Hi Shok a good round? Or if I had to choose between HST or Hi Shok what would you reccomend.

I would go with the newer one, HST.

Just a few years ago my agency switched over from the Win 180JHP subsonic to the Ranger-T 165SXT. Definately a step up in my opinion.

We've been using Federal's "Tactical Bonded" 165-grain .40 caliber ammo for about 7 or 8 years now. Perhaps 30 shootings with it. Really a great load. I don't know of anyone who was able to keep fighting after a decent upper-chest hit or two.

The 165-grain Ranger-T is a really good load too.
I don't know if they still do or not, but a large federal agency, along the international border, carried the 155gr Hi Shok as of several years ago.

I bought 10 boxes from SGammo to get the price break.
