Most states allow flash suppressors, > 10 round mags, and adjustable stocks now that the federal Assault Weapon Ban has expired (1992-2002). Cali is one of the most restrictive states (along with NY, CT, and NJ I think) when it comes to guns. I'm pretty sure that they have a state version of the AWB that still restricts the flash suppressors, magazine capacity, (edit)but apparently not adjustable stocks. They also have some manner of approval process for guns (maybe handguns only?) that prevents anything except for specifically approved guns from being imported.

Don't quote me 100% on this but, I think you can have the flash supressor and or adjustable stock, just not the full cap magazine (But I've also heard Cali has a rimfire rule that allows for mag capacity in a rimfire, not a regular centerfire- NJ does not have this sensible law ) -- The compliant version we get here in NJ (the one I got) had a fully extended but 'permanently' pinned stock, a plain crowned barrel, and a 10 round magazine. I literally ripped off the stock with a hammer to replace it with a Magpul MOE. (The flash hiders look nice but i could care less so I'm cool with the plain barrel).

25 round mags would be sure nice, I wish NJ had a rimfire rifle law but hey, that's just the way it is.

thanks Japes, S&W's website was what caused me to ask the question. they have a camo version with no suppressor, 10 round mag and a pinned stock, yet the guy I called said they only have one version (black) that was Ca. approved. So I think he was mistaken.
