You need a special permit in most states which will cost you some cash.
It's legal if you do the paper work. I kind of like the look of that one. But I am too cheap to pay for the paperwork.
In the fine print it says it can be transferred on a form 3 or 4. I don't keep up with NFA guns and laws, but it is legal with a stamp in most states.

Don't start chopping your shotgun down to 14".
14" shotgun legal?
Yes. As long as it was obtained in compliance with Federal and state laws.

Under the National Firearms Act of 1934, a shotgun with a less than 18" barrel length is a Short Barrel Shotgun (SBS).

In order to make/aquire a SBS, you will need BATFE approval ($200 tax stamp).

Under FL state laws, BATFE approved SBS are legal.

Therefore...
The gunbroker ad in the link is 100% legal under Federal and FL state laws.
Even 10" or 12" is legal as long as You live in Canada
Yep - just a $200 tax stamp and a few months wait for the paperwork, but assuming there are no state laws against it (just like any other firearm), it's perfectly fine.

This is one irony, few folks are aware of.
I would check with a local gun shop that specializes in short barrel weapons and suppressors.
It is an NFA gun, so you can own it if all the paperwork is submitted by a qualified FFL dealer, but seeing as how I am like most people and not really up on all the NFA laws I would definitely make sure to cross reference all of that with my individual state laws as well.

Not really if it was made as a sbs the stamp is $5 conserded any other weapon (AOW) not $200 but if it started out as a full size sg you are correct on the tax.
Unless I misread this isn't an actual gin just the conversion package to a sbs.....

Even with the aow like a serbu, you still need a trust yes?

This is false. SBS = $200 tax stamp

The $5 AOW stamp only applies if it is not a "shotgun" - the way to do this would be if it came from the factory in a pistol-grip-only configuration. That's how things like the Serbu are AOWs - they don't have a shoulder stock, and never did. But if you want a stock, you need to pony up for the full $200.

You never "need" a trust, but they're always helpful - especially if your local CLEO is anti-gun.

But for anyone who'd like to educate themselves further on all things NFA, I'd suggest you spend some time browsing the NFA GATE board on here:

why are the lenght requirments different than those for Rifles?

Rifles 16"
Shotguns 18"
Many Canadians enjoy 14" shotguns as normal shotguns.

And as already mentioned...yes its legal here in America too. (the infamous $200 tax stamp)

Since when have gun laws made sense?:dunno:

I believe when the NFA was originally passed in 1934, it was 18" for both, but was subsequently changed to 16" sometime in the 1960s to accommodate some popular models, IIRC (that's well before my time though, so don't quote me).

Sorta like being able to buy a .50 BMG when you're 18, but not a .22 pistol until you're 21.
