I at last had the chance to hit the track. I have a 1987 Honda CBR Hurricane 1000f with a few mods. It is my daily driver and not a race bike. Hell I'm 60 years old but still had to see what it would do when launched down the 1/4 mile. I have no ability at all as a racer but I think I did ok for the first and probably the last time.

Well I got lucky on the run. I bogged a few times and had problems keeping the front end down until I strapped the front forks.

    Holy Cow Jess!!

And here I was all worried that you'd up n died since it seemed like you dropped off the face of the earth!

Glad to see you still got something left in you, especially a mile above sea-level.

BTW, I moddedd a 1996 Bandit 600 from 66 rear wheel hp to 84hp and ran an 11.99 @ 120 mph at Bandimere. My 2004 WRX STi was only a 13.4@101 stock ...

    STAY SAFE!

I think 11.32 is pretty damn respectable, good job.

More than you can even know. I am not a drag racer and all I did was see what I could do and let the bike do the rest. In that 11 sec. there is a flood og pictures that go threw your head. What if I blow a rear tire? What if I blow a front tire? And the list goes on. For some reason I thought I would reach 6th gear but had just shifted into 5th and it was over. If I ever do it again I will take it to 12x rpm in 4th and not even go to 5th. It is un real what these stock bikes will do. I can't dream what say a new R1 will do let alone these kids around my neighborhood running them on our 75 mph hiways. But I would be a bit more crazy if I was 20 and not 60 years old.

    I took my stock '05 kawasaki ZX10R to 9.9 @ 147mph.
But that's with the front strapped and on a cool humid night.
But there is a big difference bewteen '87 technology and '05 tech, and your times are great for '87 tech.

10.5/140s from my 1200 Bandit...probably could do better if I could keep the front wheel on the ground, but then I'm only 57 years old and need some practice on handling wheelies.

We lost a busa driver in Annapolis this weekend when he T boned a Civic at an estimated 160 mph. He was found over 300 feet from the impact site. Do it on the track...not the street!!

That's probably the fastest air-cooled bike at the dragstrip... of course, there's good airflow at 140mph. ;)

Not when that short black guy (I forget his name) can take a stock '06 ZX6R and put it into the 9's.
That is haulin for a 636cc bike, the best I've ever done on my '06 ZX6R is a high 10.

My strapped, 1000cc, 9.9 is crap.

Ricky Gadson. He is one HELL of a rider though so a LOT of that is him and not necesarrily the bike. Plus I think they setup the 636 for drag racing (lowered tire pressure in the back, set the suspension for drag racing, etc) and would probably handle like crap on some twisties until it was set back. But yes, 9s on a stock 600 is nuts.
