    I’m really disappointed to say, this is the first I’ve heard of this. I don’t doubt it’s true, but why has it been ignored. Anyway I decided to subscribe to this man’s history lessons.

    Yes. If you have Netflix the Civil War series by Ken Burns is available to see. It is 11 hours and very good. The conscription riots are mentioned in the series..

    The just fresh from Gettysburg battle hardened 20th Indiana was one of the regiments sent to NYC to put down the draft riots. New Yorkers were in awe of the rough hewn boys from the Hoosier State.
    You have to remember, the NYC draft riots occurred when the War was already 2+ years into the carnage that was the Civil War. By then no one was fooled by the glory or shiny buttons, gleaming bayonets etc.
