10mm

New cartridge/reloading for me.
I purchased a 10mm Hi Point a few days ago. Also picked up 100 rounds of Armscor 180 grain bullets. I shot 50 of those in my last range session.
6.7 grains of Unique under a Hornady XTP 155 grain bullet.
I chrono graphed both the re loads and the factory.
Factory loads averaged 1065 fps.
The 155 grain reloads averaged 1147 fps.
One of the factory loads failed to feed. Not sure what the issue was with it.
Otherwise everything functioned fine.
All told I shot 65 rounds of 10mm today.
Used my rock chucker and RCBS dies I have had for several years and not used. I haven't owned a .40 S/W in a long time.

Man, I wasn't expecting 600 ftlbs out of the Armscor... but I was hoping it'd be over 500.

Shooting 10mm on the cheap. Hi-point and reloading. I like it. I have the dies but haven’t tried it yet. Good luck.

Sounds like you are giving it a real reliability test.

Lyman 50th lists 150 grain jacketed HP rounds with a max load of Unique 8.1 running 1265 fps.
You really want slower powders for more vel with less pressures. Think aa#7 & 9, bluedot, longshot, powerP is ok too.

I use a lot of Blue Dot. Which works very well in 10mm. Armscor was pretty anemic last time I shot it. We’re these the ones with the plated hollow cavity 180 grainers?

I have not tried Unique for 10MM but just scored some and may have to give it a try.

I REALLY, REALLY like Power Pistol for 10MM if you can get it. It has given me outstanding performance and consistency in both 155gr and 180gr loads.

I've played a little with Accurate No. 9 too and had good results from my initial loads, but have not done as much testing as I have with Power Pistol.

Either way, 10MM is a fun caliber to load for, for sure.

Fred do you think Blue- not blue dot- would be a good powder for 10mm?
I use Unique for all my run of the mill pistol loadings but it will only get so fast on any particular bullet weight. If you want more velocity, changing powder is necessary, I use Longshot and it's fabulous for the 10.

Sim burn rate, but not much data, but worth a try.
I've used Unique for 10mm 155 and 165 grain bullets and found it to be accurate on my slow loads. But for whatever reason, my 180 grain reloads were not accurate with Unique and I switched to AA #7 for the 180s and found it worked well.

Longshot is great with 180, as is aa#7.
