I see that Federal and Speer are both offering 200 grain versions of their HST and Gold Dot lineups. The price point for both is high so I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with either.

HST, Speer and Critical duty. All good to go.

And to all the velocity and muzzle energy people. Yes those rounds are "real" 10mm.

Underwood and similar boutique brands are nice for handing to your buddies at the range and giggling or threats of the 4 legged variety.

Who can afford to pass out Underwoods like chocolate chip cookies?

I fired a box and found they recoil like most 200gr full jacketed ball. So I train with the 200gr stuff and load for fishing with the Undereood XP 140gr.

    Same- o, same-o ballistic feeling.

I chose the Sig Vcrown. Good velocity and should be good for 2 leg needs.

    Groo here
A fast opening low penatration round [10mm has plenty]
I do not like the XTP as they tend to open too slow.
Great for hunting and accurate but not my pick for SD..

I bought the HST and at a bit over 1100fps with a 200grn HST I think it’s the perfect 10mm SD load. The recoil out of my G20 was mild and out of a G29 it should be great.

My 29 gets V crowns mixed with extreme penetrators. My 20 has 200gr XTP Underwood. Different guns, different loads, different jobs. V crown performs well from what I can gather, cheaper than others mentioned and is easy to find where I'm at.

I carry 175gr Silvertips out of nostalgia. I also carry 165gr Underwood when I get a bit of common sense in me.

I use buffalo bore 180 gr. Jhp. 1360 fps 725 ft/lbs of energy. Shot some against steel and they hit hard.
