I do not handload. What factory ammo would you recommend for deer and hog hunting with a Glock 20 in 10mm and also .41 rem mag (fired from Ruger Blackhawk and S&W 657 with 7 1/2 inch barrels).

    Thanks for the help

    For the 10...

    www.proload.com --180gr GDHP @ 1200fps

    www.natchezss.com --180 and 200gr Hornady XTP

Both of these factory loads have displayed accuracy, consistency and power that works for light game hunting (at least for me)...SHOT PLACEMENT SHOT PLACEMENT SHOT PLACEMENT ;f

On hogs, I realllllly prefer deep penetrating loads (even FMJ) in most pistol calibers, so I handload a fast 180gr FMJ flatpoint. CorBon's 10mm hunting load is s'posed to be great, but I've never actually used it or even seen it available for sale.

Never hunted deer with a handgun, but I know folks that have and they used the Hornady in 10mm, and the Remington 210gr JSP in .41Mag.

I'm interested in this as well.
I'm going to use my Ruger OMBH in .41 this year for deer.
I also have a G29 but it is not a "hunting" option in PA.
Is the Winchester 175 gr STHP adequate for deer? I have shot that out of the Blackhawk with good accuracy.

For deer which aren't generally built like tanks, I like a good 210grJHP if shooting factory stuff. I like the Federal Premium stuff but PMC makes about the same load and might be a little cheaper. For hogs I'd use Corbon, Federal Cast Core, or Buffalo Bore. They all load a flat-nosed cast bullet of around 250gr. These all penetrate nicely. Winchester is supposed to bring out a 240gr. Platinum bullet load whatever that is sometime this year. Glad I'm not holding my breath waiting for it. RKBA!

P.S. Sorry this is for the .41Magnum. To get the most out of it, reloading is a good idea. The factory stuff listed above will do the job however.

Deer - Hornady 200 XTPs - designed for hunting.

Georgia Arms also makes some nice 10mm and 41 mag hunting loads.

For hog - 41 mag for longer shots but inside 25 yards 10mm is fine.

Has anyone seen the Winchester Platinum Tip 240's in a store yet?
I'd love to try some when they become available. Or at least hear a report about them.

What about Federal 250gr CastCore? Anybody use these yet?
