What if the gun turned out to be a BB gun without the orange on the barrel?
This is serious question for concealed carry. The difficulty with a threatening teenager or child with weapon is that initial uncertainty. With a teenager I think you would be more likely to assume the gun is real and react accordingly.

In this video the kid points the gun , then abruptly leaves.

Police: 3 Minors Point Gun At Man, Woman In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say three minors pointed what appears to be a gun at two people in North Philadelphia earlier this week.

The youngest suspect, 10-years-old, turned himself in on Wednesday night.

Police say the gun was either a toy gun or a BB gun. Authorities continue to search for two additional minors.

Kid belongs in juvenile hall. Parents need parenting classes.

Nothing to see here... Just another parasite in training. He'll be living off our tax dollars soon enough (if he isn't already). But as to the first clip, if the youngster was that close and had the gun right up in my face I think I would try and disarm the brat and hold him and his gangsta friends at gunpoint till the authorities came.

As long as it wasn't my family he pointed a gun at, I would call the popo and let them shoot him.

Every situation is different, tough to make a blanket call on something like that. But you've got to assume the gun is real.

It is mostly sad. Where are the parents? My kids don't hang out on street corners, with a bunch of bad kids. Unfortunately, it is a cycle of low education and poverty, along with drugs and gangs, that feeds itself. The kids see that the way to get money is to sell drugs, or commit crimes. The "cool" kids have the money and the flashy material items. How is a seven or eight year old going to react, especially when the mom and dad are absentee? I don't blame the kids. You can say they should know better, but how? Their parents are gone or horrible, how are they supposed to learn morals and ethics?

I wish I had an easy solution. I do think education is the way out for these kids. Ross Perot had some inner city school/community centers he was funding (in Houston I think) way back. They gave kids a place to go besides the streets, and taught them school material. My city (Louisville) has cut funding to community centers where kids could go. That puts them on the streets. Then the mayor wonders what to do about the homicide rate. Put two and two together.

Somehow, we, as a society need to try to turn it around and give these kids alternatives besides the crap you see on the video. That street isn't going to lead to productive good citizens. I'd say fund some after school centers like Ross Perot was doing. Give the kids a chance to see good role models. Let them learn trades, computer skills, etc. Let them have wholesome fun activities like sports and science. Sure it costs money up front. But you save the costs of having to put someone in jail for years. And the good citizens are driving the economy and paying taxes (rather than being a drain). Believe me, Ross Perot (who I campaigned for) is no socialist. But he understood the value of education and saw what was happening on the streets. It is a long term process, but it can be done, and I think there are solutions to what you see on that video.

Thinking about the age of the "shooter" or if it's real or not will get you killed. Taking it a step more how would you know if it's loaded or even functional? maybe you should wait until he fires the first (last if he connects) round. Again thinking about the details like that will get you killed.

This would be a moment where you'd have to determine if it's either an "immediate" threat or an "imminent" threat.

In either case my gun would be drawn and at the ready with loud commands to stop or I'll shoot.

Jump on my hood like that I am going in reverse as fast as possible. Don't care what age you are.

But yeah in this case, I would draw.

If he is old enough to play the game, then he is old enough to pay the price.

The little kid with the gun early - a fairly loud, "Hey - what the bleep are you doing?" will probably halt that. Draw down? Nah. It looked fake from Go. Be prepared, but don't slap leather every time you see something. He's 10.

The climbing-on-the-car thing? Well, first, I wouldn't be in that neighborhood. Second, reverse is a good option. If that didn't work, fwd works as well.

I'd just shoot the gun out of his hand...

Like my hero, Rex O'Herlihan, the singing cowboy...

The story I linked to isn't fake. It's not the one I was looking for either. There's another story of preteens trying to rob someone with video but I found this first. Don't let their age fool you, they can be deadly when raised without conscience or morals and taught violence is always the answer.

I am sure whomever that 10 yr old thug kills, will be praised for taking the moral high ground and not taking the threat of an armed and sociopathic POS serious because "he's a kid".
