Hello Everyone. I was just curious for those who efiled their state and federal tax returns how long did it take you to receive your refund. Did you direct deposit or did you have it mailed to you?

    thanks in advance.

Same here, first time to efile, and it amazed me that the .gov did what their schedule said they would. 10 days from filing to being funded by direct deposit.

    Refund taking too long?

Anyhow, if you are doing the '$8000 New Homeowner Tax Credit' it will take 16 weeks to get your refund.

State is usually a few days faster than federal. But it shouldn't take longer than 8 to 14 days depending on what day of the week you efile. If it takes longer to go www.irs.gov and click on "Where's my return?" If you mailed in a paper copy it'll take at least 8 weeks for them to even process your return. If you call before then they will just tell you to call back after 8 weeks.

The wife and I got our refund in about 10 days. I think we filed our taxes on a Tuesday and it was deposited in our account the following Friday.

We're closing on our new place on Friday so we'll get the new homeowner's credit thing. I heard it would take from 6-8 weeks instead of 16. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I sure hope you are.

Feds, about 2 weeks. Our fair state is in a 'budget crisis,' and claim they cannot possibly send our refund until September. Oh, and the state audited me. The bast****!!

Several states are citing the budget crisis and holding onto refund checks. It amounts to an interest-free loan to the state with your money that you overpaid in the first place.

wish I could get the Homeowner's Tax Credit on my condo...even though it's not my primary residence, I bought it, doing my part to stimulate the economy, dammit.

its the money you get back if you over payed taxes.

say you payed about $2,000 in taxes and got back about $1,400 thats a refund

when you pay about $2,000 and get back any amount over the $2,000 (say $3,000) well thats wellfare

you want to pay abuut as much as you owe and get a refund as close to o(zero) as possible....

if you use your taxes as a savings I could go into a lot of ways on how you could invest your money better.
