Saturated hydro carbon of Methane...fundamental building block for hydrocarbon chains and many chemicals as a methane radical CH3 as a compound bond to a missing hydrogen bonding site.
However mine was trinitrotoulene and nitrocellulose, both compounds for the single and double base smokless powders...smells like success!

Yea that maybe Kosher, However the intense methane output from a good old heapin' plate of south Louisiana Red Beans with smoked pork hocks served with a side of fried onion rings can create some nice smoke rings.....o.o.o O O O

On a per pound basis, I believe that chickens produce more methane than any other critter.
