I've never ridden, but know a woman who was an avid rider (harley). I say was, as her daughter, also a rider, was in a bad accident several years ago. Daughter recovered mostly now, but it was a LONG journey as the case here (best wishes to you). The woman and her daughter do not ride any more as a result. Then again, there is my old boss who owns 7 - 8 bikes and has restored 3-4 vintage indians (1 of his hobbies). Last I knew, he still rides some, but picks times with lower traffic.

Wow!! Good to hear that you made it through all of that and better to see that the grandson was not hurt worse than he was.

    Prayers lifted up for you.

at two weeks I was very bad. could not stand. double vision. very poor memory. zero strength. three weeks to the rehab facility, needed help getting into a wheelchair, onto the can.

    my condolences for the loss.
    cagers can be blind.
when I drove the 18 wheeler, they didn't see it either.

    sorry bro.
my leg was only saved when the surgeon who was in the middle east for over two years, saving our heroes, told the others he could do it.
five surgeries, the last a bone graft. total well over twenty hours getting it together.
if I heal well enough, the rings off perhaps late spring. otherwise, August.

Hope his insurance is substantial and he has money on top of that.

Prayers for your recovery my friend. Sorry you had to experience that but I believe luck was/is on your side. From your list of injuries, this could always have been worse. Keep track of the good days and keep plugging!

    What an ordeal brother!
Sorry to hear of all you’ve been through.
    So glad you’re getting better.

You will be on my family’s prayer list until you are back and completely rehabbed.
Thank God your grandson walked away essentially unscathed.

Keep us posted as to your progress. It’s important as we need good people in this world.

Happy you’re still with us and recovering.

Lost my grandfather exactly that way 20 years ago, except he was in a big boat of a car at the time and still didn’t come through the wreck.

If you’ll accept a suggestion, don’t focus on what you’ve lost. Focus on what you still have.

He should change his screen name to Riddler.
That’s as bland as I can make it.

Wow, simply wow and that just doesn't do justice to what you had done to you.

I rode a motorcycle as my daily driver 1982-85 in SOCAL back when it was sane. Run off the road a few times. 90% of the time in bike/car accidents, it's the car which violated the bike's right of way.

My best for healing and that the insurance company pays everything you're entitled to. Don

OP, I can't even begin to imagine the pain and stress you're going through. The only "blessing" I can think of is your little grandson escaping with comparatively minor injuries. I have an 11 yr old grandson and he means the world to me. I like to think you survived this ordeal because you still have a lot to teach him! Hang in there and I do wish you a speedy recovery and that in the end everything works out to your favor.

Glad you and the grandson are in the land of the living.

I'd been riding since I was 14. Decided to quit a few years ago for all the reasons above.

I don't miss it at all.

Very happy that you made it and that you are healing. Double that for your grandson.

I still ride, but only occasionally. This year I didn't bother to get an inspection. The roads have gotten crazy around here. Its hard to enjoy a ride when the traffic has the pucker needle maxed out at 10.

Same... The sad reality is, he probably has the state minimum and is massively underinsured for that sort of bill.

    Get better !
