I just read this statement in another thread and it made me wonder if this is the majority.

I don’t want to sway opinions so I will not offer mine as of yet.

Is working 60 hours a week “insane” in your opinion?

Pretty average in "right to work" states in some industries.

About half the year I'll average close to that.

Not quite 60 hours but close and no I do not like it, I tolerate it less as I get older.
    But the company demands it.
Every year. I blame poor management.
I have never seen the phrase" I only wish I had worked more overtime" on a tombstone.......

I found I could sustain 45 hour weeks easily. But, sixty hours is too much for me for more than a month or two at a stretch.

If you are an owner of the company, it may be on the light side. If a loyal, dedicated/motivated employee, it’s extremely common. I’ve done it and more, lots of times for extended periods.

When you'll do it, it is cool.

When you won't it is insane.

Wife won't let me do that anymore, so it is insane.

I enjoy what I do, and could easily work 60 for the cash, but I'm glad my wife keeps me sane.

I work with some guys that snag all the OT they they can........it is wrong not to

I did the last year that I worked, but I knew the place was going away (suspected, before I knew for sure), so I had a finite time frame...................made it easier to deal with, knowing there was going to be an end to it.
Would have liked to get a bit longer, but isn't that always the case?

Depends on the each person's individual situation. I usually work between 45-50 and am on salary so I don't get OT. My coworkers think I'm crazy, but I don't have a family to come home and take care of so I'm fine with it. The boss typically never puts in the minimum of 40 and I think that's crazy.

If 60 hours a week works for you, it's not crazy and it's your norm.

Depends on the person and situation.

At one point I worked 72 hrs a week and had the entire next week off. I loved it and had a ton of family time. I hated it when I lost that schedule.

60 hrs every once in a while is fine with me.

60 hrs a week every week is nuts and I would find a new job.

There were times when Dad and I had more ground to farm, planting season and harvest were like that. I have a lot less to farm now so I don't have to put in those kinds of hours any more.
