Thinking of selling off all but the 9 mm

I'm thinking of selling of my 45, 40 .37 sig and 3.80 and just go with the 9 mm. I reload so it would just make life allot easier and I rarely shoot the other calibers, when I do it's just a couple of magazines and it's right back to the 43x I just love that pistol. As far as that goes I don't shoot my 19 or G45 much either. I know it's good to diversify but I think I have more dust collectors then shooters. probably a prime time to move them as well. I don't need the money so thats not a factor.

I try to learn from my past purchases. I’ve owned everything, well not as much as some of you, but a 9mm Glock is the perfect trade off in so many ways.

Unless I start spending a lot of time in the woods, I’m fine with 9mm. Then I’ll have to track down the sweet g31 I sold!

I've thought about selling off some of/many of my firearms..... several times.

Then, I 'snap back' to reality.
I am a firearms enthusiast. I'm not a 'collector', but, I don't shoot everything that I may own, every week or month.
I will state that I own a Marlin 1895CB, and bought it in 2001, NIB, and it has never been fired, other than at the Marlin factory.
Why???
Good question. I'll shoot it eventually, but, I'm not worried about it.

Without making a public statement about anything else I may or may not own, has taken me years to acquire.

I'm now retired, and have time to enjoy what I have, including my firearms, tools, vehicles, my beloved wife, my kids and my grandkids!

IF selling/giving/loaning/trading/pawning ANYTHING you own/possess pleases you, then by all means......... do it.

Life is good. This is America. Do what pleases YOU (or gives pleasure to others!)

Wifey has been driving a 94 Olds 88. Has nearly 140K on speedo, it isnt junk, but getting tired. All options work.

Found a replacement, Buick Regal...2015 with 68K.
Sold off 5 unused Safe Queens, 4 long guns, bought Buick. Yes hit the fair numbers on sale, and she's smiling.

I still have hardware to cover SHTF or 2020 Election, and stored enough ammo in a spare safe. Do I really need 15 handguns, or 9 longguns?

Not really, but keeping a few handy isn't bad thinking! A guys gotta do what a guys gotta do!

Most of the stuff in mine is. Even my beloved 1911s could go for the right price to fund a semi or full custom upgrade. I only have a few sentimental options and the few necessaries (couple Glocks, EDC X9, my wife's 228 and Vaquero) but the rest is just taking up space mostly, and I'm too lazy to put the work in to get the right value for them.

1911s for sale Possibly! Hmmmmm!

Yeah, it's funny I had a dozen at one point of varying degrees and now I'm down to just a few, one is already slated to head back to its original owner now that he had surgery and can work a thumb safety again, and both my 5" models don't ever get used (Kimber Warrior, widebody R1 enhanced) in favor of my VBob. I'd be fine dumping them and putting the cash in the fund for a Wilson, Nighthawk or Alchemy or something similar. BHP is in the same boat.

As I said, I've just been too lazy to put the effort into getting a decent price for them.

If you don't kids that would use the guns and just sell them for less than they're worth it makes sense for you to sell them now and put the money to better use.

My friend has 12-15 guitars and his 2 grown daughters could care less about music. He figures if he sells them now he could get what they're worth and put the money away for his daughters vs having them basically giving them away when he's gone.

I've pared-down a time or two. I personally don't need or want guns I don't use, and consolidation vastly simplifies ammo and reloading component resupply.

Anything handgun I carry will be carried around the farm; so aside from pocket guns, 40-45 is where I've settled. Rifles are all 30s of one variety or another and the shotguns are all 12 gauge.

That’s a good way to have a bunch of your guns sold for a fraction of their value after you die.

Sell now while demand is high, then do something better with that money, rather than having it tied up in stuff you don’t need or want.
It is another way of looking at it.
I don’t think I will care what happens to mine after I die. Maybe my kids will keep them, maybe not.

Maybe the value will go up, maybe it will go down.

Who knows.

Sell them if you want to or keep them if you want to.

Did the same thing in pistol calibers, kept the 9 and 45 and sold off everything else. Makes life so much easier.

One thing about having guns with different chamberings, is that, I could still shoot at the range using whatever ammo I can find. Of course, there's limit to this statement.
Yesterday, I found two boxes of .380 FMJ ammo at one of the LGS in my area. So tomorrow, those are going down range.

I used to collect guns when I was younger. These days, I honestly have more than I really care to keep around, yet most of what I still have are things I simply can’t sell (inherited pieces, NFA items, etc.).

To tell the truth, I’d like it if I could bring myself to downsize enough that the only ones I keep would be a fighting rifle, a service sized pistol, and a pistol small enough for pocket carry. I really don’t need a shotgun, I don’t need a lever action/bolt action/single shot rifle, I don’t need anything in .22lr, and I don’t need multiple firearms of the same type.

Unfortunately, my dad was like me, and acquired quite a few firearms that wound up with me when he passed. So, I will pack them around with me until I croak, then my son can figure out whether he wants to do the same, or get rid of them.

just asking so dont beat me up, but why 9mm? it is the last caliber i want right now. impossible to find and expencive and from my personal expierence from using all 3 calibers (9mm ,.40, .45) in uspsa and 9mm barly knocks the steel down .40 and .45 throw the steel backwards! theres a reason we have to calibrate the stage with 9mm

I would keep at least one pistol in a different caliber. For me it would be one .40 S&W and keep a small amount of ammo and supplies for that one pistol. Sell off the others, pick up another 43X and maybe a PCC in 9mm for fun.
I agree. In times like now when ammo supplies are spotty, it is good to have a less popular caliber to fall back on.
For me it's 10mm that will also shoot 40 S&W as my primary with 9mm as backup and a substantial supply of ammo in all three calibers.
