I watched the tv and saw the planes hit. I had to go to work in tv and had no idea if more problems were coming to the country or my city or chicago or new york or la or washington.
I went to work with my loaded 1911 colt with three spare 8 round wilson combat mags. So 33 rounds total on me and a spare box of ammo in my bag.
Never needed the gun. But wanted to be armed in case something else happened.
Did you folks around at that time carry that day ?

Had both my 19 and 26 on me that day. When I finally got home three days later I brought my Gunsite Service Pistol in 45 ACP and my M4gery in to work with me. All stayed with me for the next four months until I retired.
Was getting dressed in the locker room, shift started at 0600 Pacific Time. Duty gun was a SIG P220, BUG was a S&W 342ti. Briefing that morning consisted of watching the TV news telecast.
In Sept 2001 I was a sophomore in college. By then I was living off campus so when I could carry a gun, it was a 1968 LW Commander (which I still have) loaded with Rem GS 230-gr JHP. IIRC I had a G-code leather paddle holster.
I was in 7th grade so nothing , at home I did have a .410 single shot , 30-30 , and a .22.
