Like the successful G2 series, it looks like Taurus has another winner.

  • Glock compatible sights
  • Comes stock with metal sights
  • Interchangeable magazines with G2 and G3 series
  • Better trigger
  • Three magazines standard
  • Better finish on slide than the G2 series
  • Street price (normal times) of sub-$300
Looks like Sootch00 had zero issues in the first 450 rounds out-of-the-box. Now some won't be able to get past the Taurus logo. That's fine, I feel the same way about Springfield (and also don't care for anything they offer beyond the Saint). But so far it seems to be a well made, inexpensive yet strong shooter with a lot of features.

As long as it continues to demonstrate reliability it will be a very strong contender in the market and I'm sure they'll sell every G3c they make.

Nice comparison video:

In addition to the post I made above, looks like it accepts Sig and Canik mags as well. Pretty interesting and kinda useful.

As I've said, as long as this model proves reliable/durable it's yet another winner for Taurus and a nice option for the consumer.

Good thing I held off buying the G3.

G3c takes the same mags as SIG 226, is Glock sights compatible, reportedly has a better trigger than the G2C. I like it already, even without handling it yet.

This maybe, is the real G19 killer.

:)
Like I said, Taurus will sell every single one they can produce. The Taurus haters will continue to scoff as Taurus smiles and heads to the bank. As long as the pistol proves out to be reliable it will be another win for Taurus.

Meh. Much better pistols out there right now that are proven designs for not much more including from Ruger who has much much better customer service that Taurus. Even Beretta's striker fired pistols are really not that much more these days.

Problem with a lot of YT reviews these days is that they are infomercials and not so much reviews. Sootch in particular seems to love everything he tries so I don't put any stock in his views.

Still more choices are a good thing.

Why don't we see simple endurance tests like this anymore where the SIG SP2022 blows through 5000 rounds without an issue? Much better than You Tubers shooting a few hundred rounds.

I’ve owned a lot of pistols and revolvers over the decades. That’s included a lot of Taurus products. They were accurate, reliable (with one small exception with a revolver), shot everything I fed them and simply operated the way they were suppose to operate. The one’s I’ve owned did everything my more expensive guns did. Can’t ask for more than that.

I may pick one up. Very impressed with the TX22. It would never knock my CZ's out of the EDC box though. I haven't bought a new gun in eight months, why not? Sorry, DeputyDave, the Springfield Hellcat is a keeper! View attachment 781536
I’m sure the HC is a great pistol. Just never been a fan of SA. Except the Saint, I do like that one. :)

Very intriguing … and timely.

Just last Saturday I was shooting my Sig P365 in a local USPSA match against all the race guns. What a hoot! Talking with another Super Senior who was shooting a PCC and he said, with an apology prior to his admission, that he shot a Taurus G2C in IDPA matches and was doing well with it. I think he said it was his EDC. He said he figured he had about 2,500 rounds through it (he works at a range). Never an issue.

Hmmm. I'm pretty well stocked with handguns at the moment, but it's kinda cool to see a second-line manufacturer hit its production stride. One would hope the customer service product will match the quality (apparently) of their 9mm pistols.

However, I recall an article by a BIG name in the gun business a few years ago that torture-tested 5-6 single stack pistols and the Glock 43 and Taurus (Slim?) were the last two standing. Lots of praise for the Taurus.

This can make the market interesting to watch, but how does one ever get their hands on the actual sales stats for guns? Handguns? Personally, I think it would be cool if Taurus began competing on the level of Glock, Sig, Ruger, H&K, S&W ...

I'll be following this thread to see how it does over the long haul.

There are certainly times I'd like to have a pair of matching guns at a cheap price if they worked well. If they get dinged up or are stolen, lost, etc. it wouldn't hurt so much.

Some folks think you can’t compete with a Taurus and have stated as much in this section. Yet they seem to never see the posters that state they have used a Taurus pistol in matches. And of course you can. If it works for the shooter that’s all that should matter.

I’m familiar with the review you’re referring to and it was the Taurus PT709 Slim. An excellent pistol with only one thing, as an instructor, I didn’t care for (base plate was very thin which could cause those with limited finger strength the necessary surface to grip-n-rip during a malfunction drill). However, that issue is prevalent in many makes of pistol.

I've had several Taurus Firearms over the years and not a single issue. Starting with the PT58 (.380 cal) then G2C. My only Taurus at the moment is my TX22 which has approximately 2K rounds with out issue. Just run with 40gr CCI Mini Mags. Held the G3C just the other day at my LGS and came close to walking out with it. May go for a Shield 2.0 or Canik Tp9sf Elite SC if I can get one for a decent price. Got one of my daughters a Canik Tp9sf Elite last week and it handled extremely well.

Although I prefer a manual thumb safety on a striker fired pistol, I agree that it would be a positive if they, like other companies, offered the option.

I'm impressed with Taurus. My G3 has been great.

Can't beat it for the price and I do not find it to be any worse than the Glock 19 Gen 4 I used to own. I'm sure the G3C will be great too.

It is definitely not as nice as my Sig P226 SAO Legion...but it is 1/4 the price.

That's the way the vast majority of folks, that actually own the pistol in question, detail as their positive experience.

You get the folks screaming, "well...ah, no one uses a Taurus in competitions". Then you see people here that say they do or folks that know people they compete with the do. Yet you never see the screamers admit they were wrong.

Then you get a thread where someone had an issue with their 'XYZ' model and the Taurus-bashers pile on with juvenile glee. They celebrate the one gun having issues and seem to gloss over the many folks here and in reviews that never had an issue. And they kinda-sorta forget that EVERY company has had the occasional issue with EVERY one of their models.

Then you get the thread where someone claims to have gotten terrible CS. And of course the Taurus-bashers pile on again with joyful juvenile glee. And again, they kinda-sorta purposefully forget all the folks here that had a positive CS experience. Like the guy last year that screwed up his own pistol and Taurus fixes HIS screw up on their dime. Yeah, that sorta gets forgotten.

The you get the folks that state that a particular Taurus pistol, like the G2 isn't as good as 'XYZ' other brand of comparable pistol. Okay, prove it. What does the pistol that cost 2, 3 or 4 times as much do that the G2 doesn't do? Does it make the bullet hit harder? Does it make the bullet expand bigger or penetrate deeper for some reason? Does it last longer? It does? How do you know, have you ever compared or seen them compared side-by-side in a large enough sample size test to be able to make a definitive statement?

Heck...have you even held one in your hand or have current experience with the model? Looking at one in the case 10 years ago doesn't count as 'experience'.

And yeah, one of the local Taurus-bashers is likely to be along shortly to pop in a sarcastic statement or offer some misinformation based upon their vast yet non-existent experience. Yet Taurus remains one of the top selling pistols consistently and they sell every gun they make.

Well it is a Glock Forum so the feedback is always going to be pro Glock as opposed to any other make. I like the Glock 21. I have a Glock 17 that is pretty blah compared to a CZ 75b and doesn't do anything better than my Taurus PT92 or PT99. Before I hear "Yeah, but Glocks don't wear out!" I've had those two Taurus gun's since 1985 and shot the heck out of them. I've only used the the Taurus CS once and got an eight day turn around on their dime. Typical? I don't know. I know I'm going to buy a G3 compact if their ever for sale again around here.

Got my girlfriend a G2C a few months ago and I like it so much that I'm considering buying a G3C for myself. Had no idea the G3C was coming out so fast when I bought hers unfortunately. I also was willing to give her my P365 but she likes the Taurus better and finds it easier to handle (likely do to it's larger size). For me the gun shoots perfectly and I couldn't find any reason NOT to like it alongside any of my other guns. That said, if the G3C is the improvement everyone says it is, then it will certainly be a winner and probably will find its way into my collection at some point.

It would be a big improvement if they had reduced the trigger pull length but they didn’t.
To me it’s mostly lipstick.

Good to see the positives in this post.

My dislikes for the G3 (probably the G3C too) are that you have to pull the trigger to get the slide off which is no biggie but still not preferable too me.

Also you cannot rack the slide with the safety on to put a round in the chamber...something I was most likely spoiled with using my P226 and P938 Sigs.

Not a big fan of striker fire vs hammer fire but you get used to it along with the extra travel on the trigger.
