Have 2 19.5's, a 26.5 and a 42. I want to add a 43 but will need to give up one Glock to get it. Will not do the 42 as i am 70 now and may need the soft shooting 42 later.
Should i do one of the 19's or the 26. For now I keep a 19 in the bedroom and one in the kitchen. The 26 lives in the truck. The 42 is in my pocket. Thoughts please.

Personally I've sold/traded off guns years ago and regretted it. I won't make that same mistake again. I will save my green stamps until I can get what I want. I can't see selling off a perfectly good weapon that I know the history of. Good luck and be safe.

Keep what you have, you already have all bases covered. If your bent on getting a 43 than get one but don’t get rid of anything. Have you shot a 43? They are a tricky little animal. I hated mine and gave it to my son. I got a S&W Shield 9mm M2.0 and loved it. I understand wanting a 43. About 6 weeks ago I bought another 43. I worked with it exclusively. I ended up putting a Hogue grip sleeve on it and I really like that little package now. I know how tempting the 43’s are ( I bought 2) all I’m saying is if you have an opportunity to shoot one, do it before you buy. Best of luck in your decision.

The other week a kid next to me at the range told me he had a 43 and sold it to his father in law as he couldn’t get a good enough grip on it. I showed him mine with the Hogue grip and now he wants it back again.

The Gen 5’s suggest recent purchases in a relative short time span. I suspect an assessment of inventory has taken place ( NEED vs DeSIRE).

The Glocks are relatively inexpensive and offer differences to meet most desires and needs.

I probably spend more time vetting my handguns than most but when I’m done they shoot well with no problems. The time I spend with a new piece can take several hours of work and another 2 weeks of trial and error. To shorten this thought is that I realize to sell one now IS A MISTAKE.

Suggest you stop the appraisal of need and sleep on the buying spree. Give it (3) months and revisit the situation.

Mickey, do you ever carry or foresee carrying the 26? The subcompacts offer an advantage in concealment in my experience. If so, sell one of the 19s. If not, the 26 in a truck offers no real advantage over having a 19 there.

I'm not really big on leaving a firearm 24/7 in a vehicle. MY choice would be to make one of your inside guns pull double duty. When you are going somewhere in your vehicle, put one in there. When you come home, bring it in to the kitchen.

Of course my real choice would be to keep what you have and buy another. I gave up selling a gun to finance another a long time ago.

Nothing wrong with what you currently have. If you can afford it, just buy a 43. If money is an issue, of the ones you listed, I'd let the 26 go.

I've owned my 43 for a while now and I've had to work hard to become proficient with it. The cost of the pistol is small potatoes in comparison with the cost of ammo, training and accessories I've spent on my 43.

I love my 43 and have been carrying it a lot. I can now shoot it almost as well as I can shoot my 19. IMO you'd be hard pressed to find a better summer carry than the 43. Maybe when the work out all the bugs with the P365 but until then, I'm sticking with my 43.

(I've heard good things about the M&P Shield 2.0. It might be worth looking at for comparison sake.)

The M&P Shield M2.0
Is a fantastic gun. It’s cheap has a nice trigger and I love
The grip texture. It’s just not as comfortable to conceal. Well let me clarify. The 43 goes in my pocket or IWB. Can not cary the shield I’ve tried in pocket. It has to go in a IWB or OWB the 43 is very comfortable in the pocket on a hot summer day. So.... Humm Love the Shield but love the 43 more. Hell I’ll probably change it around next week. LOL. Again good luck.

If you have the $ get the 43. It is great SD gun! I'm an old guy and shoot it very well. Speer GD's 125 gr. +P's. Carry it everyday! It performs very well - fast reaction times and excellent split times (for and old guy). The only other Glocks I have are Gen.4 G17 and Gen3 G26-27-33. They are in the safe - just in case. The 43 is a great SD gun! May buy another just for "back-up".
I carry it everyday! I've ALWAYS got my G43!!!!!
Good luck!

I carry my G43 quite often.

Great pistol...

OP - I completely understand your dilemma and glad you got things worked out with the purchase. Did you sell one of the other guns?

For me, I find it confusing to have too many handguns tucked away in the vehicle, bedroom, laundry room, etc. That's why I tried for years to make ONE gun cover all the bases … a Gen 4-26. But when the 43 was introduced, that was my ticket to paradise.

Personally, I've narrowed it down to a Gen 5-17 (picking it up in about a month), a 43 and an LCP2 for pocket or ankle. I think that's enough to handle the very remote possibility that I will ever need to respond to a violent encounter.

I've got two 43 mags with Vickers Tango Down +2 extensions (for IDPA matches in the CCP division) and three mags with Pearce Grip +1 extensions (for daily CC in one of two IWB holsters at 3:30 or 12:30) and one mag with a Gee plate for potential pocket carry or when I'm trying really hard to not print in a t-shirt. It's all good. And, I seem to shoot the 43 pretty well in action pistol matches.

Good luck with everything. Ain't it grand to have achieved 'old age' and still be able to run and gun a bit with the handgun of your choice? I used to think 70 was an ancient age and now I can see it … just over the horizon (I'm 67). It's sort of surprising - and fortunate - that I can still do most of the things I love to do. Hopefully your life is going the same way.

When you buy a quality firearm, the money isn't "spent." The investment in the gun is secure and, should an emergency occur, it's available. Further, there is no rule or law that says you can't have BOTH pistols! That's the way I see it.

I have 2 G43's and carry one every day. The G43 is my favorite carry gun, but the massive G21 is the favorite of all Glocks.

Give yourself a break. I'm 71 and do whatever I want to do. If you want a G42, and it makes you happy, then you should get one.....or two. There is no reason to "wait!"

A side benefit, is that your ownership of guns, really pxsses off the Liberals!

Really considered selling my 26 after getting the 43. Kept putting it off and after taking the 26 out yesterday, glad I didn't. The 43 is still my EDC as I need something that will go in a pocket holster for deep concealment and the 43 fits that to a tee. The 26 is a tad wide for me to comfortably pocket carry. That said, put 150 rounds through the 26 yesterday and from varying distances from 3 to 15 yards, single shots, double taps, triple taps, draw and fire double taps, ALL were easily in the A-Zone on the target and the actual A was obliterated by a 2" diameter hole. With the 43 my usual results are vast majority in the A-zone, but always a few, usually second shot in a double tap out in the C or D zone.
