Found an article that was a couple of years old comparing various aftermarket barrel manufacturers and in the article they stated that Storm Lake was bought by Freedom Group and the result has been a marked drop in quality and customer service.
I had no idea. I bought a Storm Lake barrel last year and it was markedly less accurate than stock and when I reached out to customer service, was ignored.
"Only one of multiple calls to Storm Lake was answered, by a rep who identified himself as being from Tapco, a sibling company of Storm Lake under the Freedom Group parent company of Remington. He said he’d “do his best” to have a Storm Lake rep call back. That was 2 months ago. None of our testers are holding their breath, and we cannot, in any good faith, currently recommend these barrels. This is especially sad, because I shot and enjoyed Storm Lake barrels years ago."
I live 40 minutes from RCBS in Oroville. Haven't been by for awhile but occasionally play golf with one of their engineers. I should drop by Huntington's next door and see what they know.
They have NEVER made anything better. They rape pillage and plunder for short term profits. That’s what they exist for. You’ll find some very interesting names who claim to be “conservative” and who also vehemently opposed Trump and preferred Hilary linked to FG.
It would be sad indeed to find one day that WW primers are better than Federal. It’s getting hard to avoid a company that hasn’t been ruined by freedom. Seems like part of a plan to destroy firearms related businesses but that’s just an opinion.
A Message from Bell Helmets
March 1, 2018
As you may know, recently there have been calls on social media for a boycott of Bell products because of its association with Vista Outdoor, a company that also owns separate businesses in the shooting sports industry. A major concern for the boycott centers around the incorrect assumption that the purchase of any of our products may support a cause that does not fit the mission/values of our brand. That is not the case. Our brand falls within the Outdoor Products segment of our company, which operates separately from Vista Outdoor’s Shooting Sports segment.
A Message From Blackburn
March 1, 2018 As you may know, in the wake of the recent tragic shooting at a Florida school, there have been calls on social media for a boycott of Blackburn products because of its association with Vista Outdoor, a company that also owns separate businesses in the shooting sports industry.
The decline of Storm Lake quality and customer service is truly regrettable. Storm Lake was my first choice in years past. Glad I bought conversion barrels before Cerberus/Freedom Group slithered onto the scene.

I live about 20 minutes away from the r.c.b.s factory in Oroville. It's been a couple of years, but the last time I had a warranty issue with a carbide .40 s&w sizing die, they were awesome. I was out of there in under 5 minutes, New die in hand, no questions asked. The employees there still take pride in the company's history and reputation even if the parent company is circling the drain.
As far as Huntington goes, they are a glorified outdoor clothing store these day's . They still sale guns and ammunition, but be prepared to take out a second mortgage.

According to this article Freedom Group changed it's name to Remington Outdoor Company Inc, which as has been much discuss is filling Bankruptcy. Although it seems unclear, besides poor gun sales, it also appears this was caused by a sell off of Remington stock by anti-gun stockholders and Cerberus Capital Management LP, "the private equity firm that controls Remington, will lose ownership of the company as a result of the bankruptcy. The company’s creditors, which include Franklin Templeton Investments and JPMorgan Asset Management, will exchange their debt holdings for equity in the company." https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...reditors-to-file-for-bankruptcy-idUSKBN1FW23Q
Cerberus most likely was pushing Remington to increase sales and reduce overhead. When that was not accomplished, it appears Cerberus sold it's controlling stock and Remington went bankrupt.
On WONDERFUL news, thanks :-( I wonder if one of Hillary's money sucking companies is behind them, if not, What Communist Group / Company is? This is just crazy! What are they offering all these companies to cave in?
Wow, I did not know that. The freedom group seems to have nothing but it's bottom line in purpose and has made a few really good companies turn out garbage. I won't buy another Remington or Marlin as long as they own them. I have four or five Storm Lake barrels on my Glocks and they all are reliable and accurate. Sorry to hear they are headed down this destructive path.
Freedom has been ruined by their billionaire investors who are de-vesting from anything gun related. While they are hunting for upland fowl in the Scottish Highlands with $50,000.00 German shotguns they are plotting to take away the guns from the colonists. This is what we are dealing with.
That is the way this company works and has done so for years. They leave behind them a shells of corporations they acquire and manage until they have stripped every bit of financial gain from them and then they sell them off. They nearly ended Home Depot years ago. They bought Chrysler from Mercedes Benz and completed the raping and pillaging that Benz had started and then took the money from the Government during the whole "Too Big To Fail" money hand outs and then sold it off to Fiat.
Wherever Cerberus Financial Holdings is involved, the company is not long for this world as it once stood.
