This poll has been posted per a request from GT user "Fox". Just looking for the basic info for comparison, but if you wish, you may share make/model/calibre/etc. Thanks!

Wow, this is an old poll. It kind of reminds me why I like to poll. Opinions can change so much over time it really kind of pointless to make a poll continue indefinitely. I'm going to have to remember to set mine to expire next time.

Your statement is exactly why I will still post a question thread about a topic, of which there may be tons of information I've already googled and found... From years past. Often times, I'll post and state I would like contemporary opinions, not information about topic from 2016, etc.

I started carrying a gun professionally 38 years ago.......I have NO idea where the time went. Glock wasn't even heard of back then. We carried revolvers both on and off duty. I carried a 686 on duty and a 60 off duty. Upon joining my second department, I was issued a 65 and still carried the 60, until we were allowed to carry autos off duty. That was a LONG time ago.

When the plastic fantastics took over, I was issued a G22 and carried a G27 off duty. All that changed when the M&P Shield came out. I got the very first one in my area and it became my permanent off-duty gun......until the G43 came along.

I retired out of LE in 2017. In the last 5 years my carry gun has changed about as often as the seasons changed (that's twice a year in the southeast part of the Country). Now I carry a P365, Hellcat, G43, P320XL, P320 x-compact, Shield/Shield Plus and a G45.........my how times have changed!!!

Why?

I actually sold both my G19s and replaced them with a P229 chambered in .357 SIG, .40 S&W & 9mm (by way of a Bar-Sto conversion barrel to save on training costs like LEOs used to do with .357 Mag/.38 Special). It handles the .357 SIG round better than the Glock 31, 32 & 33 just as the U.S. Secret Service said when they first considered replacing the P229 with the G32. Don't get me wrong, I love 9mm as well and have my smaller guns chambered in that caliber (as well as .380 ACP). But my primary is .357 SIG because, while there isn't much of a difference between 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, that can't really be said of .357 SIG.

I run a Glock 26 with a Galco IWB holster.
some times a Taurus 740 slim when the little bit thinner seems like a good idea (bought pre Glock 43 came out).

I had a Glock 19 but sold it and now I'm kicking myself for it
When I was 21 all I carried was a Springfield GI 1911 in a Galco Summer IWB holster, but that got old after a lot of years so I have gone polymer and haven't looked back.

Lots of good looking rigs in this thread.

For me, it depends on the weather and what I'm wearing but as a shorter/stocky type I sort of default to the G27 either with the .357 Sig barrel installed when in the United States proper or when in the People's Republik where I am seeming too much of the time, the stock Glock .40 barrel and Hornady Critical Defense loads which are the closest we can have to hollow-points without being a criminal.

Hotter than hot with just a T-shirt, I'll go down to the G43.
Cold weather and more clothes allow for a G19 or G21 ... or sometimes one of my 1911s.
