It seems that their decision to not sell hi cap magazines wasn't their choice. Here is their response to my email. There is nothing the filthy democrat animals would like more than a boycott to put this retailer out of business. Don't let these treasonous leftist creatures use you the was the Russians used them.

Thank you for reaching out to us, and giving us a chance to respond. We're aware of a recent rumor suggesting that we made decisions to restrict the sale of magazines with capacities greater than 10 rounds due to recent events.

We want to assure you this is not the case. Insufficient internal communication led to a misread message. We are not offering magazines with capacities greater than 10 rounds to the general public due to our location in Northbrook, Illinois, and local laws that limit our ability to sell these. Being an internet retailer serving fifty states can be complex at times, and frankly, our location in Illinois only adds to this complexity. We may not always like the law, but we need to follow it.

You can see the ordinance in question here:

At OpticsPlanet, we have never used the inflamed tensions and emotions of current events to drive decision making. Our support of the 2nd Amendment is made undeniably clear by the products we offer. We are one of the few online retailers who never stopped offering completely legal products based on public or political pressure. We do not raise prices during frenzies. We do, however, follow the laws and make adjustments when legally required.

While we wish we could be your provider of these magazines, our hands are tied in this matter. We sincerely apologize for our role in creating any confusion, and hope you'll continue to support us as many loyal customers have over the past 18 years.

Best regards,

Andrew M.

That is total BS. Most of the "Junk" you sell is shipped from the manufactures. You simply forward the orders. You can have them shipped from Magpul in Wyoming. Do you think gun owners are stupid?

Everything I've ever gotten from OP was shipped from OP.

When dealing with state, county, and city laws, it is best to err on the side of caution. Even if you are right, fighting a lawsuit is very expensive, especially against a government entity with unlimited pockets and attorneys on payroll.

You cannot blame them for adopting practices that protect their company and boycotting a company because they choose to comply with the law is only cutting your nose off to spite your face.

You also cannot also expect them to look up every law in every city, county, and state to determine if there are laws the supercede the laws they are following.

Many businesses have moved. Botach and RTG are ones I'm most familiar with who have recently moved. But again, moving a company is very expensive, disruptive to employees, and I don't think the two I've mentioned were the size of Optics Planet.

Anger should be addressed at the one who enacted the new laws not the ones who chose to follow the law. They are the ones who should bear the cost of their actions.

I hate to kick someone while they're down but I've never liked dealing with Optics Planet. after being jerked around I usually ended up canceling the order and finding the same thing some place else even if it were for a slightly higher price and I have avoided Optics Planet ever since.

That is my experience. I ordered a SIG Navy pellet pistol for the grandson. It showed in stock. Then they said it was back order. Bait and switch?

There are several go to sellers on eBay that have low overhead and beat most prices. eCop is one of them. Tax free, low cost, free and fast shipping. If one digs around Amazon, Wally and Academy also have great prices as well as a million big and smaller mom and pop Internet stores. Why use Optic Ripoff Planet with all of the competition out there?
