I've been checking local "for sale sites". There are more Gen 4 guns for sale than Gen 3. And quite a few Gen 5's. Is something going on with the Gen 4 guns that I don't know about?
It’s just that 8 years after their introduction, there are a lot of them out there now so they are bound to pop up for sale used.
Then there are some like me who prefer the older gen 3 guns, so those might get snapped up quicker. There’s nothing wrong with the Gen 4’s mechanically, and I’ve had a couple. I just prefer the finish on the old gen 3s.

Considering how many Glocks have been made it really does not matter they are all good, functioning weapons. I have not heard of any particular issues with any generation just that folks, including me, like the older stuff. I just like guns with some age and wear on them. I am lucky enought that I don't have to sell a Glock to buy one otherwise I would have sold my gen 4 G22 to get the gen 2 and same with the G19 gen 4 for the gen 2. Nothing wrong with the gen 4's
Because the guys that never save enough money to buy their next Glock, sell their last Glock. Then they can by their new 19X that everybody is all a twitter about.
The elitist mindset is usually a narrow one. Personal preferences, people... I have no reason to own gen 4s anymore. I prefer gen 5, and am slowly adjusting my collection accordingly. If your current gen is perfect for you, great! Take care of it, and it'll probably outlast you.
Just look at what happens when the new iPhone comes out. Everyone ditches the iPhone 8 to get the iPhone X. Looks like manufacturers are doing the same thing with guns now.
have some 40 cal gen 2 & 3's. carry a glock 23 every day but just "discovered" a gen 4 g22 recently. to me that is perfection for my paws..... and boy am I late to the party!!
Still had the copper grease, came with night sights (slightly scratched) for less than what I pay for a blue label. Gonna check for some slightly used 26’s next days off.
You realize that for many years both Gen 3 and 4 has the same crappy finish right? I even have an early Gen 4 with the frying pan finish. Unless you mean the older gen 3 Glocks.
On the other hand, the new Gen 5 may have the best finish to date. Time will tell.
I picked up a gen 4 17 with 5 mags, Trijicon HD sights, and ghost trigger connector in the box for 455.00. I traded another gun that I never shoot and $150.00 for the 17. It was a good deal because we both were happy. Well after breaking the 17 down to the frame and cleaning I noticed when I racked the slide and helped it close and the weapon would not go into battery or reset without some trigger manipulation. The feed ramp still had blueing on it. No wear whatsoever! I was puzzled to say the least. If I racked normally, like the shop guy did it would return to full lock up. Shame on me. I live in Montgomery, Al. And shop guy is in Mobile so a quick return was not gonna happen. Determined to be my on Smith I bought a Zev full fulcrum trigger kit with new springs, everything but skeletonized FP. I replaced all parts including Ghost Disconect and now I have a tack driver. Point being maybe some people are trying things (ghost trigger disconnect) and for some reason they are not working. I love my G 4 17 now. Inspect closely and get one.
I recently bought an LEO turn in Gen 4 Glock 22 with night sights for $354 from Aim Surplus. Great gun and a great deal.
Many LEO'S and military are going to 9mm, Im in training as a Sheriff Reserve Deputy and have to buy my own weapon. Thank goodness my Dept let's us use 40 or 45 cal.
The only thing I heard about the gen4s was the finish just was not as good as the gen3.
I did not like the grip pattern.
So all of mine are gen2&3
Someone above was wanting a gen2 G-17.
I have half of one, I picked up a gen2 G-17 frame for my
Advantage Arms 22cal Conversion Kit. Works great, and I don't have to take a slide off something else to shoot it.
I paid 200 for the kit about ten years ago, and 100 for the frame 3 years ago.
Now for 300 I have a complete 22cal Glock.
I think the Complete Kits are 300 now.
I think I'll call it my gen2 G-25 No one else will have one around here.
Hey Boogieman I was born and raised on the North Side of Houston'
Dad built a house in Pt Bolivar during the winter after Hurricane Carla, 1961 I think.
We spent our Summers in Bolivar fishing, and some trips to Galveston.
Good luck finding a G-22.
I do as well. But my favorite is my Gen 1 G17. AK serial number born in Feb of '86. She's been my carry gun for 3 decades. She just feels right. After her I prefer the Gen 3's. Even over the Gen 2's. And the Gen 5's just don't feel right to me.
For a while I used the gen3 frame on my AA conversion, and the gen2 frame with G-17 slide. It worked just fine, and I liked the feel of the gen2 frame on 9mm.
I have returned the two where they belong and I also like the finger grooves on the full size frames.
The gen3 frames of the mid size just do not work with my fingers. Therefore my G-19&23 are gen2. My G-30S I'm going to have to do some Grinding and sanding on.
On my G-19/23 frame I have put Decal-Grip and a Pachmayer slip on grip and this feels better to me. I don't know if they make it for the G-30s yet but will have to find out, it just makes the grip thicker to work with my long fingers. May not need both with the G-30s.
I couldn't afford the 19X so I sold a few collector rifles and pistols and made arrangements to have my kidney donated in exchange for a 19X.
:holysheep:
I've been seeing a lot of Gen 3 and Gen 4, 40 S&W coming in our LGS's for over a year now, it's a great time to pick up a 40 s&w at a good used price, some have little wear at all...
Yeah... because after shooting the .40 a couple times nobody wanted any part of em!
yeah... cause after shooting those snappy kicking things nobody wanted any part of em! Hardly ANY WEAR AT ALL!! Orthopedic surgeons made a fortune on wrist surgeries!!
I only have 3 glocks now. Have had 6 at one time and like a dummy I would sell them to try sigs and xd and smith and so on but would get bummed because I would want my glock back they just work for me. Now no Glock sold for a new one just will save for the new one. Finally learned something on my old age
