Who all owns one or the other or both !

Is the Seecamp relevant nowadays?

The price has came down considerably to $595

Or , is the LCP a better alternative.

Already have a G42, not quite small enough for rear pocket carry , which I prefer.

The LCP II is suppose to have a Glock like trigger, now I could get use to that.
The Seecamp looks very well made but seems the newer ones are hit and miss is quality

I have the Seecamp in .25 and .32. I also have the KelTec P3AT, close enough to the LCP for the discussion.

The Seecamps were AMAZING technology for their era. Finicky in their ammo and lube options, but given that, very reliable, I carried Seecamps for several years as a deep-cover alternative.

Seecamps are heavier than polymer alternatives, and even in .25 kit were not a pleasure to fire. But I am sorely (literally) tempted to complete my trifecta if a .380is available for $600!

Yet, day-to-day, it is the P3AT that gets carried, not the Seecamp. That is mostly a financial decision - if I lose the P3AT to a LEO issue, I lose $300, not $600.

But the Seecamp remains, for me, as an elegant and uncommon carry option. It isn’t a range toy, but the Seecamp was never intended for that role. The Seecamp is an up close and personal option. One very much accepts Seecamps as Seecamps.

When I first got into shooting and carrying the Seecamp was the ultimate little hideout pistol. People were paying big bucks for them, and being waitlisted for a year or more to get one.

So for me it will always be a cool gun.

If that’s not the case for you then I wouldn’t bother. It no longer owns the market, there are lots of tiny pocket .380’s nowadays and for a heck of a lot cheaper.

If two items can do the job equally well, I would go with whichever one is less expensive.

I have a luxury car and an SUV, but if it is just myself or a short trip with one other person I usually drive my Honda Civic. Cheaper on maintenance and cheaper on gas.

EDIT: Unless you think the more expensive will become a collector's item and appreciate greatly.

I have an LCP II in my pocket right now. Highly recommended. It is 100% reliable, has a truly nice trigger, real sights, and I think it looks great. Skip the original LCP, even though it would have saved your some bucks. The LCP II is totally worth it.
Conversely, I have the first gen LCP and wouldn't trade it for a gen II. I actually like the long, heavy pull, more traditional hammer-operating firing pin, and lack of sights to snag anything. Who's going to use sights in a gunfight? I can rapidly put 7 rounds into a paper plate at 10 yards, even without real sights.

YMMV.

Isn't having options cool?

And that was one of the main points Seecamp made when Larry Seecamp developed his pistol. The instruction book stated plainly that if the user needed sights for a gunfight, then the Seecamp was the wrong tool. It was very much a pump and run weapon of last resort.

Sights on a micro 380 or any other micro gun I have never understood. I can pretty much hit what I need to five feet away.

I carry a seecamp in 32 acp for a backup , no way I would want to shoot one in 380.

+1 on LCP enhanced gen 1.
IMHO the perfect micro .380 pocket gun.
Particularly with the addition of the outstanding Hogue grip. Reliable, accurate and a pleasure to shoot.
Okay, +2 on this then, although I actually gave the LCP Gen I Custom. Truth told, I also have a Kahr CW380 that is a nice size and is reliable.

I own two first gen LCP pistols and absolutely love them and pocket carry one every day. With the right holster and pant combination the gun will disappear in your pocket and will still be able to be drawn quickly.

Despite what some think, I find them to be easily controllable and shootable and I enjoy shooting mine. Accuracy is good for a gun this size. I can hit headshots relatively easily at 15 yards with mine.

I think it is, have tried the LCP and nothing at all wrong with it, has far and away the more conventional trigger. The BG's trigger is long, while smooth and not that hard a pull, is the #1 thing most people don't like about it.

I have shot mine so much staging it and fine tuning the sights (and it has the better sights of all the .380 mouseguns) is second nature.

I carry mine with a round in the chamber and safety (which is tiny and requires a real effort for a leftie to flip on and off) in the off position. I've never had any worries about the trigger hanging up on clothing or a ND, you really have to want to pull it.

The Bodyguard is a viable option and pretty much the only one with a thumb safety if that's a concern for you. So is the Kahr CW380 or even the Beretta Pico.

I have a LCP and a Kahr CW 380 and prefer them over the small striker fired guns in this category for the simple fact that they have a long revolver like trigger pull over the shorter lighter striker fired pull on the Glock or the LCP2. To me this provides an added margin of safety and I have no problem accurately firing these longer trigger pulls especially at the arms length to 7 yard line distances we are really talking about for these guns. To me the Kahr trigger is much smoother than the LCP. Both guns have been flawless for me. I've fired a Pico and liked it but didn't buy it because I felt it redundant to what I already own and don't use much anyhow.

These are down and dirty guns and if you have to use them it will be under conditions of extreme stress where ALL your fine motor skills and senses are degraded. So IMO you want something that requires a deliberate motion to cause it to fire. Lets be honest--these small guns represent a huge compromise in terms of ergonomics over a full size handgun...manipulating a nice crisp light trigger on such a compromised platform might be easy at the range but in a Self Defense situation could prove more problematic. I also really don't like carrying striker fired guns with lighter triggers in a pocket. I know many are fine with it. That's why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. FWIW, the Seecamp is a hammer fired gun with a long trigger as well.

Many people will disagree here. That's fine. I have my rationale for what I prefer...but in truth I rarely carry my .380's. If I want to go that small and light I carry my S&W340 M&P with some .357magnums in a short barrel load from Speer in a Desantis Nemisis. I'll take 5 rounds of 125 grain .357 magnum over 6 rounds from a 90 grain .380 any day of the week and not have to worry about a magazine dropping out or a fail to feed etc.

Of all the .380s discussed my first choice is the Kahr...great trigger, feels best of them all in my hand. I prefer the lightweight snubby revolver over the small .380s. for pocket carry unless I simply need the absolutely smallest form factor--then the .380's win. But not by much. Weight wise its a draw from a practical standpoint.

I have the original LCP (Keltec P3AT). it is very picky on ammo but once I worked thru that it is 100% reliable. Great Summer pocket carry gun. I think it has a place for a lot of folks. Those little pocket guns are no fun to shoot. I have an inside the pocket holster. I clean it twice a year and shoot it once.

I like the little first gen LCP. I'd like to find a first gen LC9 if I don't go for the new EC9 for it's LCP lines and smooth integrated sights. I prefer a long heavy DA trigger for a concealed carry safety device over a manual safety or C3. A Kahr PM9 is also a possibility for that reason but it's boxy shape isn't as pocket friendly at the Rugers. Pocket draw in the LGS isn't the same as outside in 95*F with 95% humidity. For rear pocket, I'd go with the LCP. I've even carried mine (wife's actually) in my shirt pocket.

I own a Seecamp .32 and an LCP Gen I improved. I'd vote no to the Seecamp .380 and the LCPII. Get an LCP Gen I improved. YMMV. tom. :cowboy:
