First off, no offense intended towards those who want their nice new weapons to appear as if they have "been there, done that" but paying for such? I don't really understand.
Just like DIY stippling with a soldering iron (argh), to each their own but paying someone else to give your handgun/rifle the "look" of being well used?
For the prices I've seen charged, wouldn't it be more sensible to run hundreds of rounds of ammo through the weapon instead?
Let's see.....range time, focusing on the principles of marksmanship, improving one's shooting skills, and so on vs. $100+ to make something appear "worn" or "broken in"?
Not sure why you'd do it or want it but as Hillary said "what difference does it make". It's theirs to do as they like. I've seen lot of posters here do or buy things I consider silly but it's theirs and their money. I've changed parts, added parts, and changed the finish on my firearms. Only have me to make happy.
I certainly admit it doesnt appeal to me, much like I'd never pay an exorbitant price for a pair of designer label blue jeans with fake wear and even holes already in them.
But I agree with being descreet, reserved, and restrained when it comes to judging people on appearance and on their tastes in cars, guns, clothing, and whatever.
So if battle worn finish or other flavor of the month makes someone happy, I refuse to lose any sleep over it.
Yes, and not even "new looking" but just well-maintained.....
I still have a G21 Gen 2 purchased NIB 25 years ago; it has been there done that short of "combat" or "self defense" but has earned every little ding, scrape, and signs of holster wear that some folks appear to pay for today...........what gives?
I don't get how people don't get it. Are you suggesting people don't get a firearm with a finish applied? or that they are only allowed to have a black finish?
While I don't have any with that particular finish I'm not going to begrudge others who choose it.
It is easy to understand. These guns are aimed at buyers with excessive testosterone poisoning. It corrupts the mind and causes the victim to engage in all manner of goofy activity, like wearing paracord bracelets, getting barbed wire tattoos on the bicep and putting Sh*t Magnet patches on their bags.
That claim is in contradiction to your "Black Lives Matter" signature line at the bottom of your post, which is 100% appearance-based. Come on, now. You did not think you could slip that past Powernoodle, did you?

I love personalizing my firearms and I am well aware that not everyone will share my taste for my custom camo job on my G29.
But I am man enough to accept the criticism. Whoever decides to do that abomination to their Glock should be prepared to accept the same criticism.

Not sure I would quote a failed, liar hag of a political shrew to add credence to any statement I would support on Glock Talk, BUT, the only one you have to please is you, after all...
That said, there was a post on here recently about a dude who (TNRonin?) had his out for a "been there, done that" look, and when I voiced my opinion, he just fell apart: https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/a-quick-review-of-a-battle-worn-glock-43-by-ccr.1681700/
He was SO proud of his "worn out" G43... Bless his heart, but as he said, "You don't know me!" which is (blessedly) true...
I still think paying someone to wear out your gun's finish is next to retarded...
I know guys who look like this, and many of them are more "down to earth" and honorable than those who would look down on them.......just sayin'.....:fred:
If they're factory polymer, one good firm swipe over the corner edge of a brick wall should do the trick, or alternatively a few minutes with 80 sandpaper or a mill file should work ;-)
This may be just a hidden desire to appear to be a man of the world.
"Yep, I've been around. You can tell from my well worn, battle scarred Glock."
Most people who have been around know that some wear is likely but the example shown is obviously a fashion job, much like young gals buy preworn jeans with holes in them, and doesn't look even vaguely like normal wear. The buyers may not know this or they do but just like the look, anyway. When I see this sort of thing, I just shrug and move on. Some folks stipple, some add optics and threaded barrels, some paint or ceramic coat, and some just use the stock pistol without embellishment.
If rookies want to appear to be a "man of the world" it would seem that they should buy a LEO turn in for a more realistic worn look than something that went through a rock tumbler.
I think on black friday ,Im going to gun store and buying a pre worn glock. let me put on my pre faded jeans and get goin"......NOT!
That thing looks plain awful!
It's not for me, but I kinda get it. I wouldn't personally do it. Same with guitars. The whole relic'd thing that was big for a bit. Hey, how about you just go play it?

This is a 2017 brand new Strat
People spent a premium on a guitar that's finished to look like SRV's No. 1
