Took my brand spankin' new Kahr CM9 out today and fully expected it to give me a few failures to return to battery and failure to lock back like my CW380 did for the first couple hundred rounds(the CW380 works fine now that it's past the 200 round mark) but low and behold, I put 50 rounds through it of both my 124gr plated flat point handloads and my 124gr XTP handloads and it functioned flawlessly. I'm going to call it "good to go" for pocket carry but I'll also continue to put some rounds down range every time I go shooting just to get it past the 200 round "Break In" period that I honestly don't think is needed with this pistol. To say I'm as pleased as punch with this little gun would be an understatement. Way to go Kahr, love my new pocket 9. Two big Thumbs Up.:thumbsup:
I have had 3 kahr 9mm pistols in the last 10 years, just recently sold the one I never shot a MK9.
I kept the CM9 and K9.
My K9 was bought used, broken and Kahr made it right for free. 8 years later it is still the most accurate 9mm I've ever shot. Thousands of rounds down the tube, and perfect.
The CM9 was bought used and had an occasional premature slide lock problem. Drove me nuts, called Kahr and for some reason refused to fix this gun.
So I took it upon myself to figure it out. It took me a LOOOOONG time, 8 months, but I did it. (Slide lock spring was .5mm out of spec, small bend and perfect)
Now, some 2K rounds later, over year, perfect micro carry gun. It is my go-to-gun for deep concealment.
Tons of fun, great pistol, and I higher recommended buying a new one.
I had a lot of failure to return to battery and a few failure to lock back with my little CW380 until I'd put close to the 200 rounds though it. After it hit 200 it's been reliable. I guess it all depends on how the tolerances stack on the gun you buy. With the CW380 I guess they stacked on the tight side and it needed to be broken in to function but with the CM9 they're just right so it's good right out of the box.
A used P380 with several hundred rounds by the previous owner and several hundred by us was never quite trustworthy. Both PM9s my wife and I carry have never malfunctioned. 380 is a different animal and the 9s have been perfection, so if you have perfect function up until now, you probably will until a spring fails. Throw out another 50 including a couple mags (at least) of what you will carry and call it good.
I bought a CM9 to test the waters with 9mm Kahr's. It worked flawlessly for the first 400 rounds, both FMJ and my favored 124gr +P HST. It worked so well I decided to upgrade to an all Black PM9 with NS. Same story with the PM9, faultless many thousands of rounds.
