Federal Ammo Rebate a Scam?

I just got an Ad for Federal XM193 - $250/1000 - after rebate. The ad contained a pdf of the rebate form which very clearly says in multiple places "handgun ammunition ".

Last I checked, XM193 wasn't handgun ammo. So is the rebate for real?

They do rifle as well. They are a little slow, but they communicate a little be5ter than I thought they would.
The ad just has the pistol ammo pdf.

The form I filled out had a lot of rifle ammo listed by part number. Sent the rebate off last month sometime and didn't get anything back yet. I figured it would probably take a couple months.

I takes about 4-6 weeks. I recently got a few rebate checks from September. Also, if you do the online form you get a reference number you can punch in to track the status of your rebate. I was able to do this for both the Federal rebates I submitted, and my Remington ammo rebate.

I didn't know there was an on line application, just printable forms.
How do you send UPC codes like that?
Good info.

You still have to mail in the UPC and your sales receipt. The online part is registering and filling out the rebate form, which you then print and mail in. Or you can do the whole thing via mail, but then you can’t check your rebate status until they receive the form, the upc, and the receipt. I assume all snail-mail also takes longer but I don’t know that for a fact.

Every rebate program takes a long time, over 4-6 weeks. It seems like the S&W Shield rebate took around 12 weeks. I sure hope the Federal one isn't a scam, I've ordered several thousand rounds of pistol and rifle, with the rebate being the driving factor in brand selection.

I’ve been buying rebated ammo for the last few months and I’ve been getting my rebate every time so far. Both from Federal and from Remington. I’ve got 1 Federal rebate being processed right now and they’ve emailed me each step of the way. That’s why doing the online registration is nice. You still have to mail in your UPC, sales receipt, and the form, but you’re in their system and they send you updates. Still takes 6-8 weeks, but it’s no scam. When you register there is a giant list of all the ammo UPCs that falls under the rebate, so you should be able to find the exact type and amount you purchased. Aside from it taking a while, it’s a pretty good operation IMO.

The rebate is for real. Seems like you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it tho. I bought 5 boxes of .223 and 3 boxes of 9mm. They want me to cut the UPC out of each box and send it in. I don't plan on using the ammo for a while, so I don't want to destroy the boxes. If you buy it in bulk, you only need to send in the one UPC.

I cut the UPC off the 500rd boxes and sent them in that way. Had some 20rd box UPCs to cut off but but it saved time. Hopefully they accept the UPC from the 500rd box, they should its on the list.

If it’s on the list, you’re golden. The UPC thing is annoying, but I use a box cutter and slice them off so it’s not too big a deal. 5 minutes of work for 5¢ off per round? Sounds good to me.

I used a box cutter also, but I only cut thru the outer layer of cardboard. I peeled the upc’s off and taped them to a sheet of paper. It makes for less weight and bulk and doesn’t destroy the box. Took me about 15 minutes from start to finish for $50.00 rebate. I figure I’m paying myself about $200.00 an hour. I have been notified by email that my submission has been verified, so I should be getting my rebate in the next few weeks.

Yeah, cutting the UPC off the full box sucks. Don’t know why you couldn’t just take a picture like the recent Winchester rebate. I’m sitting at nine weeks right now, but I did get an email yesterday stating that my check is in the mail.
