Years back, I received a couple of boxes of 10mm hardcast from Double Tap that had MAJOR, glaring casting defects. That put me off the brand for a long time. What are people seeing with the current production ammo from DT? I went from being a Double Tap fan boy to losing all confidence in their quality control.
Don't mess with their cast bullets but I do have their loading of the Barns all copper hollow points in my .45 acp, G20 and G19 and wife's S&W 642, all loading are advertised at higher velocities than standard loadings and the ones I have chronoed are right in line with stated velocities.
I use their 10MM (165 Grain Bonded), 40 S&W (165 Gr. HP), 9MM +P(124 Gr HP) and 357 Mag (125 Gr HP) loadings for SD and never have I had a QC issue with them. No deformed cases, etc.
There was a short stretch where their posted velocities did not match what I was getting in real life, but that was corrected fairly quickly.
Only have bought their 10mm ammo which has been excellent quality and was posting good numbers on my chronograph before I shot it.If I remember correctly the 180 grain Gold Dots were pushing over 1270 fps from my 5-inch P220 Elite.I highly recommend Double Tap.They also have been running discount codes for the holidays this year.
