So, I was sitting around today talking to a friend about which striker fired carry pistol is best.
After he left, I got bored and decided that instead of making a decision about which one I liked best, it might be better if I compared the ones I have objectively (If that's even possible)
Consequently, I built this chart, comparing apples to apples inside my safe, which I thought would make for a healthy discussion.
The Gen3 19 would score lower than the Gen4, of course, and the Gen5 would probably score higher, though I'd take a point away from it in reliability and aftermarket, since it doesn't fit all previous Glock holsters and it's too new to give it max points. Also, there's the Gen4 FS, which would throw a wrench in the system too.
I'd like to get my hands on the new CZ and FN pistols and stack them up here too, but it'd be an expensive venture.
Did I forget any features? Maybe get the points wrong? How would you do the scores?
All are excellent guns. All shot well, the K9 was the most accurate 9mm I ever shot.
After a recent 15 years of buying and selling, these are the gems that standout. The best bargain I 've ever seen is the PT111 G2 at $199. Wow. Just a great gun.
After all the above guns (and many I didn't care for) I settled on what works for ME.
G19 for range and OC.
G26 12+1 for everyday carry.
Kahr CM9 for pocket and slim carry. In fact I have two because it was so cheap I'd be an idiot not to buy a second one.
One of my friends has the G2 and I shoot it often and really like it. But I am deeply into SW revolver collecting now and am spending all my time (money) finding good ones.
For me, when clothing allows, a G26 with 12rds is perfect and my favorite. I see no reason to change and I am heavily invested in 9mm Glock mags, including a AR9 and a few dozen 33rd mags. Very reliable and durable system.
Until my SW revolver addiction runs its course, I won't be buying any more semi-auto carry guns.
1. I’d add weight since it’s a carry gun.
2. Accessory attachment, not sure why Glock lost a point there. Also, it’s a carry gun, two on my 3 main carry don’t even have a rail.
3. Extended factory mags. How does M&P gain a point here? Glock has a factory G19 +2, as well as use of a factory 17 mag, and factory G17+2 magazine. Glock also has a stop built into their mags so you can’t over insert a long mag and hit the ejector.
Even using your formula (ignoring my comments above), if you were able to get a blue label Gen 5, G19 with the Ameriglo option, and I think the 19 would be the winner. It would pick up 4 points on the features, and win on cost.
It's not 1913, and I hate changing out keys on various lights.

I gave the M&P an extra point, since it ships with collars like the shield has to cover the excess full-size magazine. I detest exposed metal.
The +2's are for G18 mags, not to be subbed onto 15 or 17 rounders.
