I have a P229 in 9mm - I Had it for 3 years and around 1500 rounds through it - one of my favorites until it started failed to eject / double feed.
Tried a number of things with the same result. One or 2 rounds every mag would jam.
I had some extra time AND some 2x readers and noticed a build up of carbon / residue on the face of the extractor. (yes, I do clean it regularly) Spend considerable effort and removed the mess. Went to the range today - 6 mags through and no more issues.

My Mosins taught me the value of keeping the extractor (and in their case, the interupter) spotless.

I've seen folks at the range that damn near needed a ball peen hammer to work the bolts on theirs, mine run like buttah.

Every time I have had any type of problems with any weapon extracting or ejecting, I start with looking at that teeny ledge under the extractor. It doesn't take much to gum it up, because it is such a small, yet crucial part.
