OK so I got the new Smith a couple of weeks or so ago. I now have around 500 rounds through it of all kinds. Not a single failure of any kind. Strong consistent ejection. Very accurate. Fits my hand like a glove. Trigger breaks right at 4lbs. out of the box. Gritty a bit at first. But after about 50 rounds cleaned right up.
It has now become one of my top three favorite guns. Feels like it's built like a tank. Smith got this one right!
Good to hear! I haven’t had a chance to fire a M&P 2.0 but I’ve been impressed with the ergonomic and overall feel of the gun. If I wasn’t tied to the Glock platform I’d give the 2.0’s a strong look.
Your report is another positive statement for the M&P 2.0 Compact, and the popularity seems to be growing. The 4 pound trigger pull "out of the box" surprised me a bit, but the availability of a manual safety model makes the light trigger less of a concern to me.

The ones I've seen on the shelves do. The safety is very much like the one on the Shield-except with a usable surface to activate and deactivate it for use.
I just did my LESOA requal Thursday with one. 3-25 yards is whats required. 50 round course, 46 in the 10 and X ring, three flyers dropped into the 9 ring that didn't quite break the 10 ring.
Never thought I would be carrying an M&P, Its now in the rotation ,Love the grip. Its built like a tank. I have no need for a safety. Its a great new pistol. Smith did well
I am going to look at one of those this week, there are a couple of local shops offering them for about $450 out the door....seems to be a nice pick up at that price. G19.5 seems to go at about $600 otd in my part of the world.
I have the M9 2.0 with the 5" barrel and FDE color. Love it, feels better in my hand than any semi auto I've every held.
Weather and gun rotation means it's only been out to the range once, 130 flawless rounds with all the common bullet weights and +P as well.
I did a minor polish on the trigger bar and it seems to be helpful.
Grip texture is perfect, only change so far is a green fiber optic front sight.
Adding to the pleasure was an excellent price, $430 with free shipping!
Looking forward to chronographing it and seeing how it compares with the 3.4" barrel on my Ruger SR9Cs.
Being a shooting enthusiast, good is nice but excellent is better. I'm pleased with the trigger but have wondered about Apex? Talked to S&W customer service today. Was a bit shocked to hear that they will void the warranty on the ENTIRE gun if any non factory parts are installed. Apex isn't, in my view, worth giving up excellent S&W customer service. Don
