How many of you routinely carry in-battery, i.e. with one in the chamber?

Always. That way, I can pull the gun and squeeze the trigger, if needed.
Can't guarantee that I'll be able to load a round in a SHTF situation...
You may want to learn to.
If that one-in-a-million failure to fire happens on your first attempt, an inability to clear the dud and chamber a new round can be a very bad thing (unless you have a good pitching arm and can bean the dirtbag with your gun).

Gun in holster = round chambered for me.
Gun not in holster = no round for one gun, but a round for a different one.

If there isn't a round in the chamber, you are essentially carrying an impact weapon or running a bluff.

If its a glock, not much of an impact weapon??

Consider, most of us will never need our ccw gun. If it does happen, you will likely need it in a hurry & may have to deliver shots with your support hand doing something else at contact distance. Not a time to be chambering a round.

Yes, I carry my G17 with a cartridge in the chamber. I want to be able to draw and shoot one-handed. I stand ready for this question the next time it is brought up.
What about your ota pin?

If carrying with one in the chamber bothers you carry a revolver or a sharp stick.

Both are more effective

Always have one in the chamber.

There’s no time to rack the slide if you need it. Plus in a panic scenario, you can short stroke it - leaving you with an empty chamber.

You can’t predict if you’re able to even use your non-dominant hand, either.
