Hate to be "slide finish" guy, BUT...

I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Glock reintroduced the RTF2 into their production line and am interested in adding yet another Glock 19 to my stable. I'm curious if anyone has any of these new RTF2s (Vickers or otherwise) and how the slide finish is? The dull, gray that seems to be easily scratched? The more durable frying-pan? The newer, Gen5-type? I've been very unimpressed with some of the newer Glock finishes I've seen on the Gen3s and Gen4s and would love to find an RTF2 19 with a solid finish. Any input is appreciated.

I fondled a G19 RTF2 with GNS & a G17 RTF2 with regular serrations at my LGS and was sad to find the slide finish to be the same as recent gen4 and gen3 issues.

Still, I almost succumbed to the temptation to acquire the G19 RTF2 with GNS for $557.

I bought a 17 and 22 in the RTF 2 release. I always wanted to try one out and I think the fish gills on the slide are cool looking. I would love to hear if these are new old stock , or newly produced frames and slides??? I hope they are older serial numbers that blend in with the 2008 / 2009 release of RTF 2 .

These guns did not sell well when first out... but like anything you can’t get anymore the price on them went up. Don’t know how many glock is releasing ??? And that will effect the older guns price.

The new 'limited time only' G17 & G22 RTF2s with either curved or straight serrations and G19 RTF2 with straight serrations are all new issues with 4-letter serial prefix in the BFxx-BGxx series. The original run (2009-2010) RTF2s with curved serrations started in the 3-letter serial prefix MVE and ended in the 3-letter serial prefix PEY. The new RTF2 re-issues would probably affect resale prices of G17 & G22 RTF2s with curved serrations while they are available at regular issue price.

Yes I'm pretty familiar with the original RTF2 run and I've never been a fan of the gills so I'm hoping to find an RTF2 with straight serrations and the more durable finish.

Resale of original run RTF2 with straight serrations is your only option at this time. Or an aftermarket slide refinish. Or Franken-GLOCK non-matching serial gen3 slide with durable finish with an RTF2 frame.

I have posted this before so I thought why not again. My last Glock, Gen3 G26, has a finish that is easier to grip but scratches far to easily. Never been fired. My other(7) Glocks have finish like the one on the left and have been around for many years without scratches. I treat them all the same. At my age I have all that I need and do not like the constant changes, that actually do little for the firearm. The G26 is my last purchase. This is just my TCW but I just had to vent. Thanks for the opportunity.

I find these kind of scratches to be common especially if carried in a holster that leaves the top of the slide exposed. As careful as I am, I still occasionally bump up against a doorway or some other object and the result is a scratch like the one in the pic. If you carry everywhere like I do, it's a matter of time unless you find or in my case design a holster that protects the impact areas well. (Unfinished holster in pic).
