Glock Collectors Association

Many years ago I was a paying member of the GCA (not to be confused with the Garand Collectors Association) and found it to be rather useless. I received one newsletter that was mostly a sales ad for surplus Austrian Glock holsters and web belts. Needless to say, I allowed my membership to lapse.

Is anyone here a member? Has the quality and availability of information improved? I'd like to think I can add a great deal (or maybe not, my original research may just duplicate someone else in the GCA) but it honestly needs to be worth my time.

I appreciate any input. Feel free to PM if you don't wish to make something public.

I just joined. I'll let u guys know how it goes.

I joined once about ten years ago. It it was a useless waste of money, boarderline straight up scam! There was no information and no forums. Save your money.

The Glocktalk Glock Collector Forum is the best source of information out there! And they even put us right under the main forum, very nice spot : )

That is how I felt - wasted money with no way of actively discussing the idiosyncrasies of Glock pistols.

I hope the GT Collector Forum gets even better, it is my opinion that knowledge should be openly shared and cultivated.

They were the ones who refused to even acknowledge the Gen 1 G19 despite loads of evidence for a long time. A collector finally brought one to a gunshow to show them in person how stupid they really were.

While I do not personally know of that situation, it does not surprise me. I get the feeling that there is an air of superiority...

I'll certainly let u guys know.
Regretting it after seeing some of these posts.

I received a reply. i will certainly be holding off until I have a better idea of just what the GCA is selling. Right now I agree with gunlove - seems more of a scam to part you from $35 than anything else.

EDIT TO ADD: GCA is touting a "book", when I asked about it I never got a reply about any aspect of said "book".

Completely worthless, IMHO. I joined. Got a single newsletter. Sent them a check for some other back issues and never heard from them. Their FB page is a joke. I've actually thought about putting together a different association.

I have not joined because I read here about how it’s seems to be not functioning very actively.
It’s probably a once strong organizationally group fallen behind the curb for whatever reason.
The only reason I wanted to join was to get a copy of a. Serial number breakdown matrix organized by FG only, FG/Rail, etc offered to members.
The President of the organization, Stanley J. Ruselowski, was interviewed a few times by Robert J. Sadowski, an established Gun book Author.
Stanley told me he shared this Matrix information along with allowing his entire collection to be photographed. Stanley also wrote the forward for the book.
I have pre ordered the book on Amazon here

https://www.amazon.com/Book-Glock-Comprehensive-Americas-Popular/dp/1510716025

I am very grateful to Stanley as we have had some great talks on the phone.
I did get a little freaked out when we talked about the 17L ported.
He told me he spoke with Glock factory technicians that had seen 17L ported come back to the factory that they could tell were not original factory cuts. He told me they could not tell by the serial numbers which ones left the factory ported or not.
I actually had a 17L ported for sale at the time and I panicked when I called Glock and they verified this information, very reluctantly.
So, I cancelled the sale of the gun, until I could verify it.
I have since compared the cuts and heard from other Gen 1 17L ported owners and I’m confident it is 100% factory original.

Some of the aftermarket were better cuts, many times oblique like most compensated. Glock had issues with the 17l ports. They had issues cracking and also blowing front sites off. Glock would replace the ported barrels with non-ported for free.

I dont think the GCA was ever a source of information. He just wanted to see who would be dumb enough to blindly send him $35. As I recal he was less into collecting old stuff and more into buying every model as they came out.

Bottom line is GCA multi-year members say it's scam/rip-off...

Isn't that enough to sum up a place that takes your money year after year but only sends ONE newsletter issue when you first sign up and then put you on the ignore list, BUT keeping sending money for nothing...

Doesn't matter what the owner has, knows or promises there is NO delivery.
In my first post I said the GCA sounded fishy now it stinks. :D

I didn’t join because I had read the same bad reviews.
I just got the idea that it’s poor performance was a result of neglect rather than a intentionally
Designed scam, although, in the end the results are the same for the consumer, as you indicated.
On another note, just saw they pushed the publication date back 4 months on the book I had preordered on Amazon. Bummer.

Having now spoken w Stanley four or five times for at least two hours total I can say that I agree w 5906's assessment.

Stanley is a very nice guy. He is incredibly knowledgeable about US market Glocks (zero interest in P80, P82, P9M, etc.).

I'm of course not at liberty to disclose the guns that he has but he has told me about his collection in great detail. OMG does he have an incredible collection. He has several guns that I'd love to own and would pay some real coin for. I told him exactly that.

He loves speaking w folks who know and appreciate Glocks.

He communicates via phone. When I email him an assistant gets back to me days later. When I call him he gets back very quickly. He works w checks and not e commerce.

I paid for a membership and some literature. I think that it will eventually be shipped. I agree w 5906 that lapses are not intentional.

I sure hope that he put much of what he knows in his book (which I also pre ordered).

My packet from the GCA just arrived along with the literature that I ordered. I'm extremely tied up for a couple of days so I won't be able to read it for a bit. I'll let you guys know what's it's like.

He did indeed deliver what was ordered.

I bought additional stuff. Specifically, I purchased 4 of the packets on specific guns. I've looked over the literature quickly and am extremely happy with it.

I think that what a lot of us would like to have is a catalogue of everything Glock has ever produced. A complete list of that information doesn't seem to be available anywhere. I do agree that the forum is the best source of info, but there's still a lot of stuff that we don't know.

If any of you collect Smith & Wesson, there's a couple guys that wrote the Standard Catalogue of S & W that goes through model by model with details, pictures, variants, and even price guides (though it's out of date by the time a new edition prints).

I'm sure it took them years to compile all that info, but that's the kind of Glock info I'd want to have as a collector. As it stands now, no one really knows what might be out there to collect (or what might be out there that's fake).
